The beat guys usually are, but they don’t write the statements. That’s done by upper-level apparatchiks who are usually leftists. Now TMZ is running a story that says MPD *did* give their OK, so things are muddled now.
Chimpy-face will skate.

It would be fun to see the reporter do a perp-walk as he is getting hauled off to jail, then to have him actually tried and have a trial go to jury.
Second, I load my SKS with clip, as it has a fixed magazine. I load my M1-Carbine with a magazine that is over 10 rounds.
I like several of the comments about having the entire newsroom that had possession of the “too large magazine” be also charged by the DC police. It would be so un-PC of them, but so sweet to view on the internet media.

It sounds more like a warning, that it’s likely to result in the nuisance of an investigation (to be sure that they had it legally). Of course they can’t forbid somebody to air it. That’s rock solid 1st Amendment jurisprudence.

2nd Amendment means, government is not allowed to rip your arm out of its socket. You may keep your bare arms. Don’t forget to thank us.

People are trying to illustrate the absurdity of these gun laws. Things like "no possession of a 30-round mag" (whether loaded, unloaded, attached to a weapon or not); or that you could be a law-abiding citizen with a legal concealed carry permit and firearm in your car, drive harmlessly through a school zone on your way home and be committing a felony. There is a two-block section of street in my town that is on indian reservation. If you were to drive through those two blocks with a firearm or a 6-pack of beer in your car, you could be arrested immediately. The gun laws are so convoluted and vary from state to state and county by county that you could be committing a crime and not even know it. This is what these laws have come to, and every single one of them is in violation of the 2nd Amendment.
So if Gregory wants more gun laws, he needs to abide by them also. He clearly broke the law by being in possession of an illegal magazine in the DC jurisdiction. Throw his butt in jail.

The media talking heads know the difference. They keep their people ignorant, on purpose.
Also, it drives a wedge between people who know (gun people) and the people that the gun people talk to, since the gun people use strange words that the talking heads don’t. The media consistently saying “clip” makes education tough, and it’s the normal people who don’t know the facts that can be brought around to RKBA ideas.
Lastly, it can make a gun person feel isolated, which is a goal of the hoplophobes demanding gun control.
