Firearm accessories supplier Brownells says that it's experiencing "unprecedented" sales of magazines.
Brownells has sold 3 1/2 years worth of PMAG magazines in just 72 hours, according to a statement posted from the company's official account on gun owner forum AR-15.com.
It also says that it has sold "an even greater amount" of its own Brownells magazines.
PMAGs, manufactured by Magpul, are used with AR-15/M4/M16 compatible weapons.
"Its rugged design has made it as one of the top performers in the small-arms accessory arena, according to combat veterans who credit the PMAG with drastically improving the reliability of the M4," writes Matthew Cox at Military.com.
The U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps each recently banned the magazines in favor of government-issued ones, which sparked an outcry.
The magazine grab comes shortly after the devastating shootings in Newtown, CT, which took the lives of 26 people, mostly children.
Here's the full statement from Brownell, attributed to the president of the family-owned company Pete Brownell:

I see from the ads they went from $15 to $60. That’s crap.
They are being sold every few minutes at the following link for around $42 to $44 each. . .

Who could have predicted this?
This is indicative of the surly mood of the “right”.
No one would be buying this much hardware and ammo if they intended to sheepishly hand it over when “asked”.
Take it to heart, libs. There will be a bridge too far. Care to try to guess where that is?
Not 0bama.
I made my husband change his will to make sure I am left his .223. I love shooting that gun. Prior he had set it up for his brother to have all the guns and reloading equipment. Ahhh, nope! Whereas his brother still will be willed many of the collection, there are a few special ones that will stay with me - as well as the reloading equipment.
When we go to the range he insists that I run through 100 rounds per gun per visit. I have no problem agreeing to do so. Thank goodness he does the whole handloading thing. I need to learn that art.
Just load the 30 rd mags the night before. Insist he purchase factory mags. Of course right now is a 6-8wk wait.
The BS Meter pegged so hard it broke on this one. The only company in the US that carries 3 1/2 years of inventory is Govt Motors with the Dolt, er Volt.
If you can find bullets, powder and primers. They’ll probably be as scarce as new ammo.
I imagine what they meant is that they sold more Magpul mags in the last few days than in the last three 1/2 years. Not sure how you know Brownell’s inventory, anyway. Their catalog is huge.
I heard that when Ferdinand Marcos took over in the Philippines he issued an order to turn over all guns or face the death penalty. I wonder what people would do here if faced with an order that serious.
I also wonder who in service of law enforcement would actively police the public in that situation.
Mark for keeper.
It's beginning to look a lot like Honduras......
We focus on common sense, good gun control, one shot, one kill.
The way I see it (yes, mine were trained with single shots or bolt actions), that way they won’t waste the 27 in the mag, if it comes to that (I only ever load mags at 90%—fewer malfunctions that way).
I prefer the VN era 20 rounders. They fit into bandoliers.
Great customer service with Brownells. About P-Mags, its claimed by many to be the top of the line for the AR. One point though I have read they won’t fit the new automatic rifle for the Marines the HK 416, so if all heck is loosed and a stash of Marine automatic rifles comes your way then you will probably need another magazine or so I’ve heard. But then again Obama is ushering forth Lotus Landtopia so turn in your guns.
I recall that it was a bit of a problem to find things a few years ago, but he had some stock to carry us over. I don’t know if he has looked around recently, but I know he was planning too.
Generally he keeps an eye out for sales, random deals. I don’t think he has for the past 5 or 6 months though - he was planning out his birthday trip to Rome LOL.
With that and Christmas behind us, now he can focus on these things again.
