They don't get it because most of the folks who become journalists have not the wit to ask any but programmed questions or ask intelligent followups.
So as I understand it (since Firefox blocked the article), Tapper has been removed from the WH press corps because he asked too many hard questions and now he’s being banished to CNN which no one watches anyway. And he thinks this is a promotion? That about right?
The answer is very simple. The rest of the "guys in the room" would rather have an immediate pat on the head, and a "good boy" from Obama, than strive for only the possibility of future rewards from the public.
I doubt that Steyn wrote the headline, but going from Abc to CNN is hardly a promotion. CNN has been reduced to not much more than airport Muzak.
I wonder if there’s been any vitriol yet from the Obamabots over Tapper’s new job?
Jake Tapper is one of the few journalists in DC who plays it down the middle. A bit to the left but down the middle. If the mainstream media was same as Tapper, Obama would have never won in 2008 or 2012. Just via simple investigations into his Chicago sleaze and Chicago real estate deals. Just by asking for school admission records (affirnative action?) and transcripts. Just by asking for more on the birth certificate and SS number
Could you please kill the Daily Caller (source) link for this article. Folks are reporting that it has a problem (malware or other bug).
Wikipedia’s definition of a zombie -
A zombie is an animated corpse resurrected by mystical means, such as witchcraft. The term is often figuratively applied to describe a hypnotized person bereft of consciousness and self-awareness, yet ambulant and able to respond to surrounding stimuli...
According to the tenets of Vodou, a dead person can be revived by a bokor, or sorcerer. Zombies remain under the control of the bokor since they have no will of their own.
Mark Styn’s description of “J-school zombies” very accurately describes our “main stream media” don’t ya think?
Kind of like signing on for the last voyage of the TITANIC
Tapper is lucky that he was only banished and that the king didn’t call for his head!
If only Jake was replacing that nitwit limey, Piss Morgan.
The end result of ABC replacing Tapper at the WH with just an ordinary lefty drone will just be smoother sailing for Obama at his press conferences.
As for CNN, I'd be quite surprised if Tapper changes the lefty political culture there much if at all.
“On Thursday in his weekly appearance on Hugh Hewitts radio show, National Review columnist Mark Steyn explained what was to be learned from Jake Tappers decision to leave ABC, where he had been the networks White House correspondent, for an anchoring position at CNN.
Steyn, author of After America: Get Ready for Armageddon, said that while the rest of the reporters in the briefing room at the White House have very uninspiring approaches to their questioning of the president, Tapper is the exception.
People think its odd that Jake Tapper, who is nobodys idea of a right-wing nut or anything, but hes the guy in there, the only guy in there, thats worth having in there who ever asks anything interesting in the hope of eliciting an interesting answer, Steyn said. And look at how much fun that guy has. If I were one of those nothing those robots in the room, those J-school zombies filing up the room alongside Jake Tapper, thats what Id be saying. Id be saying, Look at the fun this guy is having. Thats the only reason to go into journalism. Its a lousy paying profession. Its dying in the United States. I mean, its dying in a lot of places. But its dying faster here, and hes having so much fun.
To Hewitt, author of The Brief Against Obama: The Rise, Fall & Epic Fail of the Hope & Change Presidency, the promotion was one that mainstream journalists should think about if they want to succeed.
I think Tappers promotion is deeply subversive of the MSM, Mark, because CNN, which is desperate has turned to the only honest hes not a conservative, Hewitt said. Hes not even close to being but theyve turned to the only honest reporter as a means of restoring their credibility, which does message to the rest of them if you want to rise, youre going to have to be like Tapper.
Steyn agreed with Hewitt, calling it a lesson to all the deadbeats covering the president.
I think thats the lesson here, Steyn said. Hes the only if you happen to be in an airport somewhere, and a White House press conference comes on, hes the only guy whose question and answer youre the least bit interested in following. And hes been rewarded for that. That should be a great example for to all the other deadbeats in the room. I dont understand why guys dont get it. There are great reputations to be made. Hes the prime example of it.
In addition to hosting his own show for the network, Tapper will also become CNNs Washington bureau chief.”
