The actual ‘guards’ would be the ‘armed mall rentacops rejects’ paid close to the minimum wage.
I saw someplace that the avg armed security guard probably in the 10-13 ph range.
That is probably the ONLY job I wouldn’t take for that kind of money. Possibly if casual dressed but definitely NOT if a uniform is involved - You are just a ‘target’ for the crazies.

Frankly, I doubt you would have found ANYone teaching at Sandy Hook Elementary who would have signed on. If you had found but one, that would be a surprise to me.
Arming school staff might sound like a good idea in some places — like rural Texas — but it simply won’t be acceptable to the vast majority of people (and teachers) in the blue states. Aside: those same districts might support an in-school security officer (as distinguished from regular member of the teaching staff or supervisors).
It goes completely against their mindset regarding firearms, and I doubt you could persuade them to change...
What you do is play the same game in reverse. “What, there isn’t one teacher in this school that cares enough about their students to protect them? REALLY?”
Get enough loud-mouths in the community to demand it, or threaten to pull their children out since they wouldn’t be safe, and watch the reaction.

Lets not forget what we allow to be taught in schools. Some pretty twisted crap is being dumped on kids at an early age these days.
I obviously don’t disagree with your emphasis. I’m not sure what it’s like in your area, but in mine many Conservatives have abandoned the public school system. It’s pointless to try to change something that is from top to bottom run by government funds and owned by Leftists.
As was already touched on, see if you can find even one teacher who will train and carry. That’s how bad it is.
I wouldn’t want the state to do it. Let the local government handle this. I would not bring more fed/state involvement into schools. Dangerous road. Imo.
Couldn’t agree more. Point me to even one teacher’s group made up of current teachers that objects.
That’s why I get a big kick out of the teachers on the forum that say most teachers aren’t a part of it.
There are teachers in that school that moved to protect children in their classrooms, all the while listening to gun fire and screaming. Teachers in the next rooms or across the hall.
I would not want to be one of them. Had just one adult been able to get down that hall and behind, this would be a different story altogether. Even someone with a knife. Or two people.

Once there is an LEO at every school, and once steps have been taken to harden every school, and once the search of each child’s backpack and person — as well as all school personal and visitors, everyone will now be safe, sure ... right? I have a question.
How are you going to protect a busload of kids... at each and every stop?
Perhaps the schools could transport the kids in Loomis trucks.
This stuff can go on forever.

More humor? Most serial killers attended at some point - does it follow that pulling all the cops from the courthouses and putting them in the schools could end serial killing?
Why are the cops in the courthouses?
I have spoken to several retired Corrections Officers who are fully weapons trained who say they would gladly spend a day a week at the school in return for nothing more than a free meal from the school cafeteria. While I think this a viable idea, I think teachers and staff who WISH to CCW at work should be tested and enabled. The more good guys that can respond, the faster the event is terminated.
