Things got heated this morning on Morning Joe, when Republican congressman from Kansas, Tim Huelskamp, was asked about his thoughts on gun control following their discussion about the fiscal cliff deal. While Huelskamps opposition to an assault weapons ban was a point of contention, it was his assertion that the tragedy in Newtown, Conn. not be used to further a political agenda that sent Joe Scarborough over the edge.
Stricter legislation about assault weapons wont solve the problem, the congressman said. Its a people problem.
What has bothered me the most as a representative is how this has been politicized so quickly that somehow if we had changed one single law which as I understand it, the state of Connecticut had laws against these kind of things and somehow that would have changed things, Huelskamp said.
Pointing to his own children, Huelskamp noted that video games are an issue, so parents need to be cognizant of what their children are up to. Mental health is also an issue, he said, but its not a gun problem.
Its not a gun problem? Scarborough asked. So tell me, why do Americans need assault weapons? Why do they need these high-capacity clips? Why do they need a bushmaster? Can you tell me why?
Huelskamp countered that thereve been many misleading statements, including on that show.

Actually, I think the 2nd Amendment response to all these TV, cable and personal on-air interviews should be “go pick up a copy of the US Constitution, if you are smart enough to know how to do that.” “Then you can take your silly-ass emotional arguments and stick them back up your ass from whence they came.”
We - the collective “we” - those that still believe American individuals (law abiding) have this right, even in the wake of this tradgedy, one of many perpetrated against all the protection of Connecticut’s strict laws and other locales like it, shouldn’t deign to discuss this fundamental right with hysterical ideologues wishing to push an agenda or bump up their sorry assed ratings.
Like the NRA, have a press conference, state your points and stand your ground. And, raise holy hell with your elected representatives to protect your right. Screw the media, screw the gun rights groups. Don’t give them a reason to bump this back into the news cycle.
Yes. The media was chomping at the bit for years to do renew this debate. I think they were planning for this after the previous incidents. They had the talking points and agenda ready. Easily made sure Joe was part of it.
I don’t now about you, but there has never been a dead girl in my office.
So, does Scarborough agree that plying an intern with alcohiol and drugs during a campaign should also be illegal.
It has killed so many....
Another good response that I’ve heard: “Because YOU don’t want me to have them!”
I would have stood up, said “FU, Joe. Why bother having on ANYONE who disagrees with you, A-hole?” taken off the microphone, thrown it in his face, and walked out the door.
Of course Joe Scarbury voted Obama. The guy played the shrewd game of Bbcking Romney long enough to get him nominated and by last April stared to attack him from all angels and he has not back down since.
I challenge every one of these ‘gun control advocates’ to admit that they did not wish that there was an armed staff member at Sandy Hook to confront that evil a-hole! If Scarborough had his kid in that school I guarantee you he would have wanted it! He is full of crap! It’s so politically correct, and easy, to say no guns in school, until it’s your kid who’s in danger. I guarantee you the parents of the deceased children wish there was someone who could have saved their kids!!
+1
Hey Joe, Why do we need 24 hr news channels when years ago we had a 15 minute report in the evening and people were better informed?
She's at least smart enough to know she's supposed squat to pee...nutless Joe needs to learn it so he stops going down his leg like Chrissy M.
all good questions. There are so many questions regarding her death that haven’t been answered (especially about Michael Berkland - the medical examiner at the time)
Joe=poodle with herpes
Now there is an answer to most of our problems. If only we would just turn it off. Turn it all off. Seriously boycott their sponsors. Not just say it. Do it! During the Hurricane I learned to live without TV. I'm sick and tired of all these talking head know-it-alls. The liberals have so screwed up this country. Now the media is trying to help install a dictator. I despise them all and think we should do everything in our power to make them go under. Watch where we spend every penny. Not spend a dime on anything associated with liberals or obama supporters. If one looks out at all those red counties on the election map, we would realize that there are more than enough of us to make a difference. It's really quite simple: mass cable cancellations would do the trick.
Thank you.
