I nominate Professor Loomis for Dumb-Azz of the year. I know there is lots of competition here (should start a whole other thread on this). A visible community Professor who tweets the hate he did? He certainly is in contention. I submit his name to the FR committee for consideration.

It’s funny (strange) how “I want his head on a stick” is a “metaphor - why can’t conservatives understand metaphors?”, but a cross-hair on a political opponent’s name is a “call to incite violence”.

Since he’s a lefty and is against gun ownership because guns murder people, chances are he is nihilistic, blood thirsty and has possession of guns. He may have been inspiring with Crazy Adam in Conn. or the next one to come.

Through senior faculty colleagues at URI I am told that some very-high-level meetings are going on now about what to do with this guy. The president’s office phone has been ringing off the hook all day.
BTW, contrary to some comments I have seen, his rank is Assistant Professor and as such he does not have tenure. (This was also confirmed to me.)
This would make it easier to fire him, so we’ll see. Public pressure helps.
Remember that to gain tenure, he will most likely (different universities have different rules on this) have to get a majority of votes of his fellow faculty in the History Department. Given that his department is probably 95% far left, he probably is just trying to mollify his ranking faculty.

Funny...you can get booted off of twitter for snark from the right, but lefties can advocate murder and it’s ok....
