Columbia, S.C. Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), who is leaving the Senate in early January to lead the Heritage Foundation, made the following statement regarding the announcement by Governor Nikki Haley (R-South Carolina) that Rep. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) would serve as his replacement.

Governor Haley has made a great choice for South Carolina and the nation, said Senator DeMint. Tim Scott is a principled leader and will make an outstanding senator for the people of the South Carolina and an important voice for conservatives across the nation. Ive known Tim for years and am confident he will serve our state with honor and distinction. Hes become a good friend who I know he cares deeply about the future of our nation and will fight to increase freedom and opportunity for everyone. I will do everything I can over the next days and weeks to ensure the transition is smooth and that Tim has everything he needs from my office to hit the ground running. I also want to express my thanks to Governor Haley, as she went through a thoughtful and deliberative process and has again proven why shes a trusted conservative leader for our state.

Mr. DeMint announced on Dec. 6 that he would leave two years into his second Senate term to run the Heritage Foundation, a conservative research group in Washington. He attended the announcement at the Statehouse in Columbia and praised Mr. Scott.
I can walk away from the Senate knowing that someone is in this seat that is better than I am that will carry the voice of opportunity conservatism to the whole country in a way that I couldnt do, Mr. DeMint said.

GREAT NEWS!
Jim DeMint Ping! |
Follow Sen. DeMint on Twitter.
If there is interest, I'll start a Tim Scott ping list. Let me know.
What’d be nice would be if she could proactively replace that asshat Graham. How does the same electorate that elects Jim Demint elect that guy?

I don’t think Linda Graham would like you calling her a “guy”.
Good point! Might scare off her boyfriend, John “Lettuce” McBackstabbingaislereachingsellout.
Democrats are racist, intolerant, just one big Old White Man's Club.
Just saying. Palin has done the same.
“Governor Nikki Haley is conservative, a woman”
She is a RINO who did some big time Romney ass kissing trying to carry the state for him. Newt handed him his lunch, beating him by double digits in the state.
My brother has lived outside Charleston for 45 years. He tells me Haley is not liked by other republican lawmakers and basically goes on a lot of vacations.
All my best wishes to soon-to-be Senator Tim Scott. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sen. DeMint let him take his seat a few days earlier just to get a leg up on seniority.
I care not the color of a conservative. May God Bless Senator Scott—Press hard!!
btw, since DeMint now heads the Heritage Foundation, I thought I’d post this interesting story:
“Beware! Regulations Incoming!
Buckle up, job-creators: The administrative state is set to grow steadily larger in 2013 with a slew of new regulations.”

Nikki Haley is conservative.
Here’s a clue : socialism doesn’t work. So stop working for it so much.
This was really uncomfortable to read from someone I admire.

Maybe Scott will only be disregarded by 85%...
