Mr. DeMint announced on Dec. 6 that he would leave two years into his second Senate term to run the Heritage Foundation, a conservative research group in Washington. He attended the announcement at the Statehouse in Columbia and praised Mr. Scott.
I can walk away from the Senate knowing that someone is in this seat that is better than I am that will carry the voice of opportunity conservatism to the whole country in a way that I couldnt do, Mr. DeMint said.

All my best wishes to soon-to-be Senator Tim Scott. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sen. DeMint let him take his seat a few days earlier just to get a leg up on seniority.
btw, since DeMint now heads the Heritage Foundation, I thought I’d post this interesting story:
“Beware! Regulations Incoming!
Buckle up, job-creators: The administrative state is set to grow steadily larger in 2013 with a slew of new regulations.”

This was really uncomfortable to read from someone I admire.
