Yesterday was the dark day always in the far corner of my head, and only brought to the forefront when friends or family sometimes ask why I carry a hand gun on simple everyday errands and activities. My answer is two-fold; because it's my Constitutional Right to do so, and there are a lot of crazy people out there in the world today, maybe even in Newtown.
That once back-of-the-mind thought was also there everyday as my youngest boards the bus to spend about 7 hours in a completely defenseless environment where teachers and parents are not allowed to “carry” on public school grounds. From this coming Monday onward, it will be front and center, 24/7, 365.
It's high time we admit that evil exists, and “feel-good” gun laws restricting the 2nd Amendment Right of law-abiding citizens have NOT, do NOT, and will NOT prevent determined criminals and sociopaths from obtaining guns and using them.
Assuming there will be town meetings or new legislation at the local/state level, with the support of like-minded Newtown parents I have spoken with, I will be advocating for the following:
- Allow parents with a CT pistol permit to conceal carry when visiting the school grounds of their children’s district.
- Solicit volunteers and designate certain school staff as security “first responders” willing and able to procure a CT pistol permit, if they don’t have one already, and regularly train with local law enforcement if not recreationally shoot with the parents of their students.
- We don’t need more gun laws such as the previously failed attempt in CT to ban “high capacity” magazines, nor metal detectors at the doorway, or a cop in every school. Gun laws continually fail to prevent this and many other horrible crimes committed by evil persons with no regard for the law to begin with, just ask Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
- And finally, we are witnessing what happens when you replace foundational Judeo-Christian values in the classroom with the fallible, secular “wisdom” of man (and woman… to be PC).
My youngest was in temporary lock down yesterday at one of the schools in the Newtown district. The Castle Doctrine and associated equipment that protects my family at home does not extend to the classroom. As parents and citizens we must not, and I will not, relinquish our unalienable right to self defense.
Connecticut law does not require that guns be kept “locked up,” just unloaded. Even if locked up, it’s not like a 20 year-old can’t figure out how to unlock them (unless they’re in a safe).
Indeed, and who often filled Obama’s collection plate during the ‘08 and ‘12 campaigns: the Hollywood/entertainment industry.
St. Michael the Archangel resides on my hip in a variety of calibers, and will indeed be called upon!

Prayers for all affected in your community. I grew up in a similar town in eastern Conn and seeing the sights around the school reminded me of my own elementary school and the one my mom worked at as the school nurse.
I’ve not gotten my CCW since moving back to Conn., but I will now.
And that's what I will be advocating.

They were not first person shooter POV. And they didn’t show heads blown apart, and gore flying, or people screaming with limbs blown off. Etc.
(So was the killer of Tiller right? Do we “prevent (abortion) tragedies” by defending babies in direct harm’s way from abortionists?)

(He would come and block the door to the abortion clinic on their behalf; taking whatever punishments that were aimed for the baby...in other words, give up His freedom, His life)
I grew up there and yes it was a sleepy little town. It was also reasonably conservative but about 10 years after I left, 1986, I saw that the place had gone liberal and politically correct. One sign of this is the High School mascot change from Indian to “nighthawk”. I thought a mascot was chosen because something about them is something to emulate? But I guess I am just old fashioned. Stand Strong on your second amendment rights knowing that a “Gun free zone” is a “full of victims zone”.

But as someone else posted on here: that 45 people, mostly kids were bombed with dynamite in 1927. And there was nothing but radio. And his reason was Taxes.
Our hearts and prayers are with you and your community - and our country - as the Gun Control Patrol, starting from the oval office, were out front and center, pushing their cause, while those precious little bodies were still in that school. A new low, even for them. Capitalizing on these little ones and their parents to push their agenda.
YOU are THERE. You can be heard. The nations camera are there. Beat them at their own game.
I pray you go to every meeting and stress - loud and in your face to the national press - that MENTAL ILLNESS has been the weapon in nearly every - if not every - incidence of mass killing like this and that they can be correlated with the advent of not allowing these sick people to get treatment WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT - that's like saying you can't arrest a drunk driver without their permission - and they drive on merrily down the road.
People need to be educated - reminded - WHY these people are untreated and putting us at their mercy. We must NOT let the gun control patrol use these little ones for their own purposes.

How about MENTAL HEALTH control? These tragedies started after the mental health hospitals closed and put the mentally sick loose on the public - and treatment of choice is Prozac, etc, - these shooters have almost 100% been on Prozac and related drugs, which have a PROVEN side effect of suicide and violence.!
Yet none of these sleazy politicians - or the media - mention we need more control and treatment over the mentally ill - and who triggered turning the mentally ill loose on the public? Pres. Jimmy Carter. - which is another reason it's never mentioned. If these mental cases can't get a gun, they use other means - like pipe bombs... It's not the guns. I remember when the mental hospitals were closed - and mentally sick couldn't be committed without THEIR permission! br /> post this link everywhere and anywhere you can - There are not many people today who know or remember why the mentally ill not only don't get the treatment THEY need, but who explode with such violence on the Innocent.

It would be HEARD if a group of local folk, like you, got together and started demanding that the truth be told. ‘DON”T USE OUR CHILDREN” for your agenda. Protect the mentally ill and the public from them. Ban the use of these drugs, especially on young people.
MENTAL ILLNESS WAS THE WEAPON. And and the gun-controlers are exploiting them,

Ordinary citizens can't get access to the national press.
You will have the national press crawling over your community for days.
GET IN THEIR FACE - demand they report on the DRUG-SHOOTINGS connection. Print out the pages on school shooting - with the links. Pass them out to every media person - and to every person in town
This horrific tragedy may be the only conduit to get the truth out.
These drugs MUST be banned. WE must demand our representatives answer us on this individually.
