DENVER (AP) — Sara Stevenson spends her working hours surrounded by Republicans, namely the married men who work alongside her in a Denver oil and gas firm company. But after hours and on weekends, she usually spends her time with other single women, and there's not a Republican in sight among the bunch.
"There was just no way I could have supported any Republican this year," said Stevenson, 31. "They skew so much to the religious right. ... They focused so much on taxes. It's not something that women in my demographic really care about. I've never heard my friends lament their taxes."

That’s a good idea. I also think we should eliminate child support for out of wedlock pregnancies. Women want reproductive autonomy? Give it to them.

This may reflect the urban/nonurban split.
There are a lot of single women in large cities. When they marry, many move out to the suburbs.
Single women outside of the big cities and large metropolitan areas may not be as solid for the Democrats as some might think.
Of course, they also marry earlier and cease to be single sooner than those who move to the larger cities.

Because of circumstances in my upbringing, I was in no way shape or form to commit to a marriage, let alone children in my younger years.
I am now 42. It took a long time to learn what I was not taught and to “undo” things that were taught.

Long Island used to be the ultimate in suburbia....no longer the case. The 5 boroughs are moving in like cockroaches.
My cousin, who lives upstate NY is trying to get me to move up there. He wants me to buy my Aunt & Uncles house across the “street” from him. We went up on Labor Day and spent a few nights. I LOVED IT!
It is SO me! However, the employment there is non-existent. I’d still be in NY, however, up there is totally different from down here.
They hate us and Palin because we don't think the government is the solution to everything like healthcare, gov schools etc. They hate Sarah Palin because she like us loves freedom, individualism and doesn't want to rely on the government to take care of us. Why do liberals trust government bureaucrats and politicians so much?
I hit liberals/democrats with that when they criticize me or Palin etc. I say : you morons hate us because we believe in freedom. To be democrat you have to believe 1. that a politician or government bureaucrat is not corrupt, then is trustworthy, then is accountable , then is competent , then is a saint, and then can run the millions of transactions of millions of private businesses in the free market better than they can in real time at the same time. In general, when women started to vote, the country started to move to the left.
In general it seems many women are natural socialist. Unfortunately it is a failed political system since there is NEVER enough other people’s money to pay for everyone.
It is by far mostly women who are left in this country.
I know we have some great ones here, but how does anyone propose we change their nature?
Granted brainwashing in school didn’t help men or women, but even after brainwashing more men tend to lean conservative.
I think it is part of our genetic make up, but would not go so far as to say women are dooming the world and America with socialism and so forth.
It is a small step but I prosed earlier requiring women to register for the military draft at the age of 18, similar to males, in order to receive student loans. Perhaps they will fear having to be shipped to a foreign land as opposed to knowing brave volunteers will do that. It could shift their views to include more topics than abortions and women in the workplace.
As a single woman who works with many single women, I can tell you about some issues and perceptions. Many single women are single parents. Their hot button issues are childcare and making ends meet (affordable insurance, affordable power, affordable gasoline, affordable food.)
They would characterize the Republican party as facilitating the lives of the rich and famous they read about in People magazine or watch on tv. It does not make sense to them that the Republican party would seemingly support raising taxes on them while protecting the wealthy who have so much. The Republican party also wants to cut funding to the safety net that supports them.
They are drawn to things that make them feel secure in a non-violent world, because part of them is occupied in nurturing children. They want wars to cease and they want guns to be taken from private persons.
Some are likely care givers to elderly parents. They want some help out with that - affordable care, respite care, etc.
They are more likely to have had low paying jobs and have not put aside retirement savings. They want to know that they have a secure future and won’t be abandoned in age.
That is why they call the social issues “women’s issues.”
Real love, the soulmate kind, can take a long time to find. I’m glad I waited....he didn’t show up until I was 30.

That could be a good one, and why in this country do we basically give survivor type of SS benefits to women who decide to have six children with 4 dead beat dads?
Since when is it the nation’s job to pay child support.
Conditions of such should be for a limited time and should include implants to stop pregnancy. Drug and alcohol testing should be done and maybe we go back to orphanages so kids have a better chance.
