“The way to honor these dead children is to demand strict gun control, free mental health care, and an end to violence as public policy.”

My God, where to begin...

Strict gun control will do NOTHING and likely produce MORE dead children.

Nothing is "free," moron.

Uh, there is already public policy against violence. Ever hear of laws against murder and assault? Every state has them.

Media coverage does nothing for making the best of a bad situation like that. If there are any journalists out there who understand that then maybe there’s hope after all.

Mental health services huh? What needs to change are the laws because anyone with KNOWN mental health issues...such as someone committed to a mental health facility against their will....is NOT SUPPOSED to own a gun.

YET...the liberal laws don’t allow such ‘personal and private’ information to be available on a background check. That’s how Cho and many other mentally ill folks can so easily obtain a weapon unlike a felon who’s information is on a background check.
Guns not the problem. Liberal laws are.

I agree wholeheartedly and the first step should be to level the playing fiela and make it FAIR for everyone:

It shall be a FELONY punishable by not less than 20 years in Prison for ANY person or Persons to solicit or attempt to Solicit any person with a Government Granted Privilege for their own personal use.

Any person with a Government Granted Privilege who uses or attempts to use their Special Privilege for Personal Gain or Profit shall be guilty of a FELONY punishable by LIFE in PRISON without the Possibility of Parole.

We need to ban ALL HIRED GUNS, in the name of Public Safety.

Just some observations, but there well over a thousand pages of federal, state, and local gun control laws on the books today...dealing with ownership, background checks, use of a weapon on federal property, hunting rules with guns, sales, ammo, caliber, etc. So you add another page of law....and that will make all this end? No.

Our drug control laws effectively working? No. Should we put up ‘bear control’ laws to prevent bear attacks on Americans? How about ‘ID theft control’ laws? How about some ‘prevention of bridge collapse control’ laws?

Most of us would agree more folks need to be put into mental institutes but Congress won’t dare touch that topic, and neither will your local state government.

More ownership laws? This kid simply stole mom’s legally owned weapons from her. You don’t even see evidence that he’d ever fired a gun in his life.

The truth is that there’s probably 250k Americans who are mentality unstable and just based on luck today...you got up, went to work, and came home safely. Any of those 250k could have gone nuts and taken you down. Your entire life revolves around luck. That’s not much to feel comfortable about.

Why do they call for gun control, but do not fervently push for a death penalty for these types if they chose to live. What if he did not kill himself, James Holmes did not.
Do they secretly say “PHEW!? Thank God they killed themselves!”

And are the gunmen sane if they chose not to die?

I love how guns have been around for decades in their recent form (semi auto handguns) but this is a fairly recent phenomenon that has been occurring with the school shootings. Meanwhile as a society we have turned our back on God, divorce rates have skyrocketed, you now need two incomes to survive as a family, and we are bombarded with violence from the entertainment industry. Yeah, guns are the problem....

I remember being able to order guns through the mail including W.W.II military weapons.. I even remember the ads selling guns in magazines -- and IIRC comic books.. I remember DoD virtually giving away surplus ammo.

We never had these horrors back then.. what really has happened?

We all know that many demanding an end to the Second Amendment will arrange to keep the guns protecting them.. there's something else going on here. Are they diverting attention away from their favorite meds? Or..

was this and other massacres "arranged" in order to advance an agenda.

Maybe yes in the context that certain pharmaceuticals have effects on the mind that, there is strong evidence, cause these horrors.

Yet, and here's the "arranged" aspect, there appears to be a disregard and even a coverup of the connection -- it could be argued that some in the ruling class New Normal want the shootings to happen

and among them there was talk that it may be necessary to kill as many as 60 million Americans to get their desired transformation of America. They need to disarm those 60 million Americans.

“gun-control advocates are taking to Twitter and the media to blame firearms for the murders of 28 people”

So Lanza didn’t shoot anyone,,,the guns did.

“The way to honor these dead children is to demand strict gun control, free mental health care, and an end to violence as public policy.”

The above underlined didn't work in Australia, as the crime rate doubled after all guns were confiscated.

How about banning union men who threaten revolution, civil war and other men’s wives; who spread a climate of fear which promotes violence?

What about movie-makers who subtly place plastic religious icons on the dashboards of the bad guys, who associate
Christianity with criminal insanity, hypocrisy and stupidity?

What about irresponsible “lawmakers” who declare that their will be blood because of legitimate due process by voters?

What about banning the ban on the possession of guns by those who are in positions of responsibility?

Just asking.

Buy your high capacity magazines TODAY. The first piece of legislation is going to be another ban on magazines with more than a ten round capacity, ala the Clinton-era “assault weapons ban.”

This applies to handguns and long guns.

“...will the President have the courage to stand up to the American gun lobby?”

Oooooooh. The big, bad, American gun lobby, preventing the President from making us all safe through banning the possession, use, and sale of guns by anyone at all.

(Imagine how safe those people with the illegal guns will feel.)

IMHO

How many people are killed every day by drunk drivers? I’m guessing your chances of being killed by a drunk is much, much greater than being gunned down in a public place. Yet, alcohol is legal and likely always will be. This is the price we pay for living in a free country. There will always be people who abuse the system.

Connecticut already has some of the toughest restrictions on gun laws in the United States.

It is not the guns that pull the trigger it is the crazies that want attention or the criminals that has no problem killing..

George Noory last night had as his guest John Lott, a pro-concealed carry author who has written on the subject. Lott stated that what was not widely known about the theater massacre for example was that the shooter had a choice of four theaters in his area. The theater the shooter chose was neither the closest, nor was it the largest. Instead, it was the ONLY ONE which had a publicized ban on patrons carrying concealed weapons into the theater. These crimes are planned in advance and the shooter, no matter how “deranged”, will always choose a gun-free zone.

We do have the means to greatly reduce overall gun crime. That’s simple, it’s a criminal management problem.

As to gun crimes committed by mentally disturbed people who went over the edge? I can’t think of any reasanable or meanigful laws or actions we could take to prevent these types of crimes.

This is too great a tragedy. We will see a huge campaign against guns and we will see some form of new laws against our 2A rights. Count on it.
