In the wake of the horrific Connecticut kindergarten massacre today, gun-control advocates are taking to Twitter and the media to blame firearms for the murders of 28 people, including 20 children.
Too soon to speak out about a gun-crazy nation? No, too late, tweeted Bowling for Columbine Director Michael Moore. At least THIRTY-ONE school shootings since Columbine.
He also wrote, The way to honor these dead children is to demand strict gun control, free mental health care, and an end to violence as public policy.
CBS News reported that the shooter was found with two handguns: a Glock and a Sig Sauer nine millimeter. Police reportedly located a .223 caliber rifle in his car.
Why gun-free zones are the most dangerous places in America.
CNNs Piers Morgan tweeted: Another day, another horrific shooting. Americas gun culture has to change. When will America deal with its gun madness?
Morgan added, Any moment now, a gun nut will tweet me saying, If all the kids in that school had been armed, the shooters would have been stopped
One person reminded Morgan that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, while there is a day to talk about gun-control policy, today is not that day.
But Morgan countered, White House spokesman Jay Carneys right todays not the day to debate gun control. YESTERDAY was the day to debate it. He also said the tragedy led to what is now President Obamas biggest test will he have the courage to stand up to the American gun lobby?

How about banning union men who threaten revolution, civil war and other men’s wives; who spread a climate of fear which promotes violence?
What about movie-makers who subtly place plastic religious icons on the dashboards of the bad guys, who associate
Christianity with criminal insanity, hypocrisy and stupidity?
What about irresponsible “lawmakers” who declare that their will be blood because of legitimate due process by voters?
What about banning the ban on the possession of guns by those who are in positions of responsibility?
Just asking.
“Its almost impossible to get help for a person who is having mental health issues.”
What’s lacking is better quality of “help”.
Buy your high capacity magazines TODAY. The first piece of legislation is going to be another ban on magazines with more than a ten round capacity, ala the Clinton-era “assault weapons ban.”
This applies to handguns and long guns.
If we have an “end to violence as public policy”, what are Moore’s union buddies going to have to threaten the “scabs” with?
I heard that, he also said that the “hollowed out” bullets were the worst kind and could also penetrate bulletproof vests.
A few minutes earlier Brian Kilmeade said a .223 cal rifle was used for “big game hunting”.
Idiots!
“...will the President have the courage to stand up to the American gun lobby?”
Oooooooh. The big, bad, American gun lobby, preventing the President from making us all safe through banning the possession, use, and sale of guns by anyone at all.
(Imagine how safe those people with the illegal guns will feel.)
IMHO
How many people are killed every day by drunk drivers? I’m guessing your chances of being killed by a drunk is much, much greater than being gunned down in a public place. Yet, alcohol is legal and likely always will be. This is the price we pay for living in a free country. There will always be people who abuse the system.
It is not the guns that pull the trigger it is the crazies that want attention or the criminals that has no problem killing..
George Noory last night had as his guest John Lott, a pro-concealed carry author who has written on the subject. Lott stated that what was not widely known about the theater massacre for example was that the shooter had a choice of four theaters in his area. The theater the shooter chose was neither the closest, nor was it the largest. Instead, it was the ONLY ONE which had a publicized ban on patrons carrying concealed weapons into the theater. These crimes are planned in advance and the shooter, no matter how “deranged”, will always choose a gun-free zone.
We do have the means to greatly reduce overall gun crime. That’s simple, it’s a criminal management problem.
As to gun crimes committed by mentally disturbed people who went over the edge? I can’t think of any reasanable or meanigful laws or actions we could take to prevent these types of crimes.
This is too great a tragedy. We will see a huge campaign against guns and we will see some form of new laws against our 2A rights. Count on it.
Only one argument is required to silence those calling for more gun control laws... GUNS ARE ALREADY ILLEGAL IN SCHOOL. How’s that working out for ya’? Guns are illegal in Chicago, NYC, and DC...How’s that working out for ya’?
Connecticut has strong gun laws that help combat the illegal gun market, prevent the sale of most guns without background checks and reduce risks to children, according to the Brady Campaign.
SO - what else could have been done better in CT to prevent this?
We're hearing these outraged calls to "do something!!" What can be done? America is buying 4 million guns a year, BECAUSE of our Gun Controller in Chief. No one really knows how many guns are in American hands, but estimates range up to 300 million. You're never going to eliminate guns at this point. Any attempt to do so will cause serious civilian unrest such as we haven't seen in a long time. It's all just wishful thinking, and an attempt to get gun control while the wound is fresh. No additional gun laws are going to help at all. These people are just wishful fools.
I AM the American Gun Lobby.
What in world is he talking about??
“I AM the American gun lobby.”
Absolutely Excellent!
IMHO

I totally agree.
If a person is institutionalized, one of the first things they do is restrict visitors and they do not allow clergy to visit at all.
Psychotherapy is based on an atheistic world view.
The libtards won’t go for the root cause which is how they teach our children in the schools today it’s easier to blame the gun.
Ah, yes. That's much better!
