Physicists testing to see if universe is a computer simulation

Some physicists and university researchers say it's possible to test the theory that our entire universe exists inside a computer simulation, like in the 1999 film "The Matrix."

In 2003, University of Oxford philosophy professor Nick Bostrom published a paper, "The Simulation Argument," which argued that, "we are almost certainly living in a computer simulation." Now, a team at Cornell University says it has come up with a viable method for testing whether we're all just a series of numbers in some ancient civilization's computer game.

Researchers at the University of Washington agree with the testing method, saying it can be done. A similar proposal was put forth by German physicists in November.

If this was a game (No, I do not live in Colorado or Washington) what do you think God’s next move is?

To upend the chess board, placing the opponent in chains for a thousand years while placing his Son on the throne in Jerusalem....

There never was an end-game except in Satan’s mind!

Descartes walks into a restaurant.

A waiter comes over and hands him a menu.

Descartes makes his choice of entree and the waiter asks

“Would you care for an appetizer while you’re waiting?”

Descartes replies “Oh, I think not”.

And then he vanishes.

“That would mean liberals are just computer viruses. I like this theory.”

Trojan Horse viruses to be exact.

I wonder if anyone is looking into the fact that the universe may, in fact, be a giant Cheeto cheese snack?!

If this is true, then God is the Programmer, IMHO.

Also known as The Great Architect, among other things.

If this theory is true, it does explain something God says in the Bible. Moses asked the Lord what he should tell the people when they asked him His name.

God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Isrealites: 'I AM has sent me to you'."

Exodus 3:14 (NIV)

So, God was basically saying "I AM, and you, you silly construct of my uber hacking skills, are not!"

Kinda makes sense, in a way.

This Savage and Bostrom drek has popped up again at Foxnews.com.

http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2012/12/17/what-if-reality-were-really-just-im-universe/?intcmp=features

The Matrix was less likely the impetus for Bostrom to write his article in 2003, than was a movie opening that same year, “THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR”

there be spoilers......

A mysterious death (Mentor nerd to the company owner), an investigation, our hero (company owner) is implicated, tracks the victim into the the company’s current ongoing virtual world simulation (taking place in the 30s?), finding out at the end that our hero (and local time) is a simulation (from the future stream). By this time, the hero has fallen for the murderer’s wife. He escapes into the murderer’s body (in the future) to find wealth, his murdered mentor (wife’s dad), and the wife......and a bit of a learning curve as he is now a good many years into a future.

Basically, the Bostrom and Savage papers are more math heavy versions of The Thirteenth Floor....

Bon chance...
