On Thursday I asked that President Obama no longer consider me for the job of secretary of state. I made this decision because it is the right step for this country I love. I have never shied away from a fight for a cause I believe in. But, as it became clear that my potential nomination would spark an enduring partisan battle, I concluded that it would be wrong to allow this debate to continue distracting from urgent national priorities — creating jobs, growing our economy, addressing our deficit, reforming our immigration system and protecting our national security.
These are the issues that deserve our focus, not a controversy about me. On Sept. 16, when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was unavailable after a grueling week, the White House asked me to appear on five Sunday talk shows to discuss a range of foreign policy issues: the protests against our diplomatic facilities around the world; the attack in Benghazi, Libya; and Iran’s nuclear program.
When discussing Benghazi, I relied on fully cleared, unclassified points provided by the intelligence community, which encapsulated their best current assessment. These unclassified points were consistent with the classified assessments I received as a senior policymaker. It would have been irresponsible for me to substitute any personal judgment for our government’s and wrong to reveal classified material. I made clear in each interview that the information I was providing was preliminary and that ongoing investigations would give us definitive answers. I have tremendous appreciation for our intelligence professionals, who work hard to provide their best assessments based on the information available. Long experience shows that our first accounts of terrorist attacks and other tragedies often evolve over time. The intelligence community did its job in good faith. And so did I.

Clinton wanted Kerry - the trashing of Rice came from the left... (There hasn’t been a white male in that spot for over 20 years - maybe Clinton wanted ‘balance’ or something...

NBC never got around to describing the Republicans' reasons for objecting to Rice's nomination, or describing the obvious political benefits of Rice's "blame the video" narrative. A typical uninformed viewer would have been left with the impression that Republicans were just playing some strange political game, with the possible exception of John McCain, for whom opposing Rice was "personal."
In short, NBC intentionally presented a lie as the truth. They have been doing that for so long they have forgotten how reprehensible it is.

Obama didn’t want more exposure on his disgraceful handling of Benghazi. She didn’t withdraw from consideration, she was told to jump under the bus.
Who were all those Americans at the Benghazi Embassy who escaped, many of whom were injured and supposedly hospitalized? Odd they haven’t been identified.
Susan sez: “Two things here: One, I know my Senate confirmation hearing will be a totally FUBARed train wreck and I don’t need that; Two, by maintaining my position with the UN I can provide cover for Hillary. And we certainly all know Hillary, the next POTUS, needs to be covered.”
But then a lib group got mad at her over nothing and then Obama caves.

In spite of this nothing victory and the libs on MSNBC whining up a storm tonight over this (very entertaining) I see little improvement if both groups RINOs and Dems confirm boo-boo-on-the butt Purple Heart John Kerry instead.
Susan is definitely better looking and sounding than Kerry.

There are a lot of people who would like to know who they are and get their story. I contend they are dedicated State Department employees and will not deviate from what the Obama Administration or Hillery’s handlers tell them to say!
I think it was a fake notion anyway. They didn’t want us to see their sleight of hand. If possible, who it will be, will be far, far worse IMO.

Obama would have to be pulled out of a golf game to be distracted by any of the concerns Rice listed. For certain he isn’t going to be creating any jobs, or do any growing of the economy. His addressing the deficit will be a matter of growing it, and opening our borders to anyone isn’t what amounts to immigration reform.
