First of all, I'm in the top two percent. Right now, I'm paying 45% of my total income in income taxes, both to the state of Connecticut and to the federal government, and if you take the 3% Medicare tax. After the tax hikes go into effect next year, more than half -- more than half of my total income is going to go to the government.
You tell me, what's fair about that when medieval serfs pay 25%, I'm paying half? I don't care what the majority voted to do, they don't have a right to steal my money just because they vote for it.

That they don’t have the right to is not relevant. What is relevant is the fact that they have the power to do so. Therein lies our problem.

There is no revenue problem. There is a massive SPENDING problem. The gov’t can confiscate everyone’s income, savings, assets, and wealth today and the gov’t will STILL be in debt. It’s beyond ridiculous.

I used to think I had made it to middle class, but I have been informed I am merely among the higher end of the “working poor”.
All these years I thought those random individuals who told me I was stupid to the point of insane for working hard for a living, paying my taxes, and generally taking care of me and mine the best I could, were “ethically challenged”, and a cynical minority.
Turns out I was very, very wrong.
They are actually the majority.
There is not much I can do now, all my wages are already taxed before I get them. My child is now 18, so I can't start suddenly claiming poor single mother benefits, housing assistance, EBT etc.
I can't afford health insurance anymore and all the balls are dropping from my juggling act after the last four years.
Everywhere around me prices went up ... food, rent, gas, electricity, insurance, random government “fees”, everything except my paycheck.
SMARTY if you can afford to “go Gault”, please know you do so with my heartfelt blessings.
For the Peter Schiffs, and the ethical 2% ers of the USA, and of the world - please consider taking an extended vacation from “earning income”, again with my blessings.
I'm screwed.
My daughter and her age and ethical peers are screwed for at least the next ten, and probably the next twenty years.

That’s also why the congress critters have been passing laws over the last 10 years or so that restrict American assets overseas. Now more and more banks are saying sorry to Americans, we can no longer do business with you because of your governments regulations. Many of them passed prior to the stuff hitting the fan blades. There are a few in congress who know exactly where this is going, because they are helping to steer the ship right into the iceberg.
The Rats have completely dropped what we learned about stable governance in high school in the 60s. The important thing is the protection of THE INDIVIDUAL. The hanging cartoon gets it.
