PACOLET, SC (FOX Carolina) - Deputies said two women are accused of attacking a customer at a Li'l Cricket store in Pacolet who asked them to give her some space while checking out.
According to Spartanburg County deputies, it was all because the victim asked the women to give her some space while she entered the pin code for her debit card at the cash register.
"All I wanted was a little bit of privacy, I didn't know it would lead to a beatdown," said the victim, Amanda Parker.
On Monday afternoon Parker stopped into the Li'l Cricket on Pine Street in Pacolet, never knowing she'd need to be rushed to the hospital by the time she was through.
"The line was long, I stood and waited and those two women had been at the counter the whole time," said Parker.
Deputies said the two women had bought lottery tickets and stayed at the counter while other customers, including Parker, were being helped around them.
"I said, 'Can y'all give me some privacy? I'm fixing to use my debit card,'" said Parker. "They just got real hateful, 'Well we don't need your money.'"
Investigators said the two women were 80-year-old Mary Wannamaker and 63-year-old Myrtle Smith.
"I tried to be respectful, they were older women," said Parker. "They kept mouthing and mouthing and when I got ready to walk out the door, they spit on me."
The sheriff's office said that's when the situation escalated.

Grandma zombies! A zombie is a zombie.
These two must be the mother and grandmother that Obama really wanted. And their ages are just right!
I’m starting a new club called STAL:
“Stop the Amish Libel”
Did they hit the jackpot?
Here's the photo from the link. You tell me...

Something similar happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was in a drugstore checkout line behind some youngish woman (20s) and after she’d been waited on, I stepped up to the counter to use my debit card. She remained at my elbow, for some inexplicable reason. I wanted to avoid a conflict, so managed to angle my body in such a way as to keep my purchase private.
My transaction completed, she didn’t move aside as I left the counter and made my way out the store. I guess she was waiting for the next customer.
Another reason I always sign for my purchases instead of using the PIN.
Interesting that the victim actually struck the first blow.
They spit on her. That’s assault.
Hey, obama, holder and the justice department said these two will get a “get out of jail free” card, didn’t they?
Hey, we owe them a living. /sarc
Can't you see? Again, "the police acted stupidly." And again, 'Obama's/Holder's people' are profiled as criminal even when they are being 1st victimized and then trying to help.
"wideminded?"
Let me guess naaa that would make me racist /s
Were they Amish or not???!!
If Obama had a grandmother...
Saw the headline -
Saw the word ‘Atlanta’ -
Decided to come in and see if my racial radar was calibrated properly -
Yep, all lights read green.
Any wonder where today’s criminals come from? These are their teachers......
SC ping....
Someone got uppity.
When I finish a transaction at the checkout, I always step out of the way of the line so that I can put my receipt in my purse and pull out my keys. I can’t ever recall someone being in my way while I pay for my purchases. Maybe I’m just lucky or my preschooler scares them enough to make them keep a distance ;)
