146,000 Jobs Added In November, Beat Expectation Of 85,000, Unemployment Rate Lower At 7.7%
Zero Hedge ^

Looks like Sandy was not an issue at all in the November jobs report which beat in both the number of jobs added, at 146,000 on expectations of 85,000, while the unemployment rate declined to 7.7% from 7.9%, where it was expected to post as well. Watch this space next month for prio revisions: September and October saw 49K downward revisions combined. November will suffer the same fate.

"How do 35% more people not work then in 1980?"

There are lies, damned lies, then there are statistics. The unemployment numbers are cooked to support the "agenda". Consider this however: Baby Boomers are now retiring at a supposed rate of 10,000 plus a day. That will put a serious dent in the size of the labor force.

this is all smoke and mirrors.

they are now trying to pretend that things are getting much better so.... after we go over the fiscal cliff Obama can lay the blame for the coming double dip recession on “obstructionist republicans”.

the spin will be ... things were just starting to turn around... but then the Republicans insisted on making the rich richer by refusing to raise their taxes, causing the economy to slip into another recession.

I went looking for your data link:

http://data.bls.gov/pdq/SurveyOutputServlet

As I read this chart, only a scant 64% of Americans, 16 years and older are actually working? Good Lord. And you know until you hit the people in their mid-20’s and up, those below that are most likely only working part time and most likely with NO benefits.

We are SO screwed.

Soon we may see people that become out of favor suddenly disappearing from photos. Maybe horse’s heads start showing up in beds. This is nuts. One FReeper posted a link to a great site that shows the job losses day by day. Given the action we are seeing on the ground there is no way I buy that the real unemployment is going down.

If 10,000 retire per day, that's 300,000 per month. 540,000 stopped working last month. What about the other 140,000?

Love numbers............

Doesn’t this report make complete sense and shouldn’t everyone in the US actually expect this result given what the State of Pennsylvania candidly is now advocating to its people?

“Don’t be a chump with a 69K job!!!!, take the welfare because its way more lucrative!!!!”

http://www.aei-ideas.org/2012/07/julias-mother-why-a-single-mom-is-better-off-on-welfare-than-taking-a-69000-a-year-job/

Americans aren’t COMPLETELY STUPID YET.

People have been shown that they are far more well off by NOT WORKING and instead TAKING ALL THE FREE STUFF WELFARE so again I ask...isn’t this precisely what one would expect?

I like that chart. It would be nice if there were tagged unemployment rates at different spots so we can see, for example, an 8% unemployment rate at one point versus an 8% at another point.

So what happens when the total civilian workforce is down to 10 people?

Right now, worse than Carter, and it's getting worse by the day. Wait until his cliff taxes kick in.
I think he's managed to finish the job his muslim brothers failed to do on 9/11 - and the 49% voted for him to do it, too.

soon there will be a report that there never was a Benghazi incident

We have never been at war with East Asia/Benghazi...

We have always been at war with East Asia/Benghazi...

And in other news, chocolate rations have been increased to 8 from 10 grams!

This is all over the internet so I can’t take credit

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America.

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It’s about 8 percent.

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

ABBOTT: No, that’s 16 percent.

COSTELLO: You just said 8 percent.

ABBOTT: 8 percent unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 8 percent out of work.

ABBOTT: No, that’s 16 percent.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s 16 percent unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, that’s around 8 percent...

COSTELLO: Waits a minute. Is it 8 percent or 16 percent?

ABBOTT: 8 percent are unemployed. 16 percent are out of work.

COSTELLO: If you are out of work aren’t you unemployed?

ABBOTT: No, you can’t count the “Out of Work” as unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: But they are out of work!!!

ABBOTT: No, you miss my point.

COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work, can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

COSTELLO: To who?

ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But they are all out of work.

ABBOTT:No, the unemployed are actively looking for work ... Those who are out of work stopped looking. They gave up. And, if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment roles, that would count as less unemployment?

[See the 10 best cities to find a job.]

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don’t look for work?

ABBOTT:

Absolutely it goes down. That’s how you get to 8 percent. Otherwise it would be 16 percent. You don’t want to read about 16 percent unemployment do ya?

COSTELLO: That would be frightening.

ABBOTT: Absolutely.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means ther’re two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

ABBOTT:Correct.

COSTELLO:And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

ABBOTT: Bingo.

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to just stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like an economist.

COSTELLO: I don’t even know what the hell I just said!

The same thing that's happened in all the other socialist societies before us - A culling of the herd. The useless eaters go first.

What about the 180,000 jobs lost because of the shutdown of Hostess Twinkies? Didn’t Citiibank just announce laying off 10,000 people? These unemployment numbers are about as fishy as the North Korean announcement of finding unicorns.
