DETROIT (WJBK) -- The city of Detroit faces a major financial crisis and one member of city council thinks President Barack Obama should step in and help.
City Council member JoAnn Watson said Tuesday the citizens support of Obama in last month's election was enough reason for the president to bailout the struggling the city. (Click the video player to listen)
"Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that," said Watson. "Of course, not just that, but why not?"
Nearly 75 percent of Wayne County voters pulled the lever for Obama in November.
The White House has expressed no plans to bailout the cash-crunched city that some experts say could run out of money by the end of the year.
The federal government has bailed out cities in the past, however. In 1975, President Gerald Ford extended more than $2 billion in credit to New York City to help it avoid a financial collapse.

Where’s our free stuff. You promised.
Detroit may find that they now face the same problem from the white house that they themselves have created Detroit.
They want Obama to give them money which will immediately disappear with nothing to show for it but Obama does exactly the same thing.
Every time the state has tried to step in and help the city its been met with screeching about a takeover and a demand for cash instead. The state would like to step in and take control of Belle Isle so they can maintain it and run Grand Prix races there but Detroit says no unless they maintain control.
LMAO!...What idiots!...I voted for you so you better gimme that govmt money now!!!
I am not trying to be a smarty-pants at the situation as much as I am teasing you, but the city is so broken in so many ways. My last trip their it really hit me, it is painful to see. It is going to take a higher power to fix it, not someone at 1600 Penn masquerading as one...
Its an addiction. If you offer to buy a cheeseburger for a starving drug addict, they don’t want it but will happily take the money to “buy a cheeseburger” for themselves. Next time you see him, he’ll be even hungrier.
'Our people'? Who is 'our people'?
Isn't that racist? I know if I addressed her concerns and used the phrase, 'you people', I'd be branded a racist.
So who is 'our people' you ignorant racist hag?

Dear City Council member JoAnn Watson,
I won. Therefore I don’t need you any more.
Love,
B.O.
Pulled the ole’ Ross Perot on her now didn’t-ya.. Do you remember that?
JoAnn Watson - the epitome of a political whore.
Detroit was in much better shape after the ‘67 riots. Fast forward through 45 years of socialism/nepotism/criminality to bankruptcy. At this point why not make Detroit America’s first “scum village”?....

WRONG!!... it's simply a "this for that" deal, not necessarly illegal, although it certainly could be
Not paying taxes is pretty common among politicians from Detroit. This time its John Conyers.

Isn’t this the same fine citizen previously filmed praising “Obama money!” four years ago, and several years later praising her “Obama phone,” or they all just sound and look alike?
As predicted. If Barry got re-elected the bailout requests were going to start flying fast and furious.
He’s got no reason to give them money now.

Detroit Councilwomans Actual Rant: We Voted for You, Obama, Now Give Us Some of That Govt Bacon

Speaking before the Detroit City Council on Tuesday, Councilwoman JoAnn Watson said President Barack Obama owes the ailing city a government bailout because its residents supported him in the 2012 presidential election.
Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that, said Watson, according to FOX 2 Detroit. Of course, not just that, but why not?
After the election of Jimmy Carter, the honorable Coleman Alexander Young [Detroits former mayor of 20 years and former vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee], he went to Washington, D.C. and came home with some bacon, she added. Thats what you do.
As of this writing, the White House has announced no plans to bailout the crumbling Motor City.
LET UAW bail ‘em out!
Not really.
Where’s my stash?
