On Saturday, a rich 25-year-old man, Jovan Belcher, murdered his 22-year-old girlfriend, the mother of his child. First, columnist Jason Whitlock of Fox Sports suggested that this “25-year-old kid” wasn’t responsible for his actions – it was the “gun culture” that was to blame. Then, Bob Costas of NBC repeats this idiotic notion, even though the 6’2”, 228 lb. linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs could easily have murdered his girlfriend with a knife.
Now CNN is getting in on the act. Leading their website this afternoon is an op-ed from Kevin Powell, former Democratic Congressional candidate in New York, and cast member on MTV’s original season of “The Real World.” Powell’s contention: it’s America’s culture of manliness that led Belcher to blow away his girlfriend and then turn the gun on himself. That culture of manliness includes men hiding their emotion, machoness, and homophobia.

Of course government will still have guns. In the last 100 years or so more people have been killed by governments than by criminals unless you count the criminals in the employ of governments. I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t want me to have a gun.

Belcher alone is responsible for this. Yet the Left is twisting and spinning this as the fault of all men. The Left will demand that all men act like castrati.

Exactly. A friend’s mother(who’s a very strong prolife conservative Christian) recalled a conversation she had with a black co-worker complaining about how “racist” it was that so many black men get incarcerated for beating up their black wives and girlfriends while so many white men don’t get incarcerated for beating their white girlfriends and wives. My friend’s mother promptly corrected her and said “why can a black woman get justice and a white woman can’t?”

Well, at least the Communist News Network is not blaming the gun.
CNN should look at the violent movies churned out by their parent company. Would they dare cast the blame to a culture of violence in movies or music? I think not.
Well, at least that one's off the table for a while, so to speak.
