Ninety-one percent of faculty and administrators from Americas top Catholic universities who contributed to presidential campaigns in 2012 gave to President Obama, a Campus Reform investigation has revealed.
The strong support for President Obama from Catholic schools came despite Democrats controversial health care legislation which could force employers to provide contraception for employees even though it is explicitly forbidden under Catholic doctrine.

At what point will Catholics admit that their church is pretty much dead in the Western world? I’m not trying to be flippant, but I have NEVER met a genuine Catholic under the age of 50. The Catholics who take things seriously are bound to die out, eventually Catholicism will be like Judaism in the Western world: something with a minute number of serious adherents, but a lot of secular people taking on the name, the cultural trappings, etc., and calling it their “religion.”
“The Democrat party is their religion. The Catholic Church is just a place to go at Christmas and Easter.”
The Catholic Church is apparently where they go to make a living and feed their families, too. My own giving at my parish has basically stopped since the election; whatever services for the needy provided by the Church are now taken by force from my paycheck, and whatever operating cash my parish needs they raise by renting out my vacant school to the public school system. Financially, the State has replaced the Church in terms of relevance...
“I suppose priests and nuns gotta eat just like the rest of us and will vote for the guy providing their paychecks, but...”
These are almost extinct in Catholic education today; I suspect they are talking about lay employees.
I agree. I wonder how many Black Baptists voted for Omugga?
AMEN.
Roll Tide is my view. I will NEVER EVER root for Notre Dame again. I sent my ND hat back to Father Jenkins with 30 silver dimes.
“Financially, the State has replaced the Church in terms of relevance.”
Which is all the more reason to attend and perpetuate the Faith.
I stopped giving to many of the 2nd. collections, but I try to support the Church.I have noticed the absence of the young members, and a shortage of altar servers. The Church is hurting, and IMO it is a hurt they brought on themselves. Their refusal to discipline Catholic politicians has shown that their rules are only for us peons and not for the Elites in the Church.Their allowance of things like Obama getting an award from Notre Dame , and his speech at Georgetown have hurt the Church.
If the Church cannot discipline their own theological Universities they need to get out of the University business. If the Church cannot control their Nuns they need to close down the offending Convent. If the Church refuses to get homosexuals out of the Priesthood, they need to stop pretending to keep the Faith.
The Church must provide discipline if they wish to survive.
That which is already gone can not survive
“Unbelievable.”
“Unbelievers.”
I’d have to agree with that...The Holy Ghost is not leading, teaching, and guiding in the name of Christ the life of one who is blinded so as to follow evil....”They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me”....Standing in Church or taking Communion does not make me a Christian....Knowing I have a sin nature and need redemption through the Blood of Christ does if I accept His gift in my heart....
Over a billion Catholics worldwide
..........................................................
Over a Billion who call themselves Catholics.
In America most are cafetaria Catholics, or Holiday catholics.
Mostly Catholic because their parents were.
This is my own opinion of course, but the latest election bears me out.
Some things operating in the name of Christ and the Church also need a major cleansing enema of sorts.
I am SHOCKED that private institutional teachers and administrators are acting like government employees with their donations and probably their vote. I can only imagine the reason is they are not hiring Catholics in these positions or they all want to unionize.
Dangus, I have a memory and I recall what was said by leaders in your church, they supported amnesty and open borders, and redistibution of wealth, and healthcare for all. It was only after their fellow socialists turned on them did they change their minds.
Didn’t your church also aid the NAZI’s in Germany, wern’t many in your church members of the NAZI Party here and in Germany. Didn’t a large degment of members of your church vote for the abortionist Obama?
Numbers mean nothing when the hearts are evil. In this case, it shows Catholics have a good cafeteria.
Leaders within the Catholic church do support amnesty. But you didn’t talk about that. You said they supported Obamacare. That is a lie. Adding all sorts of slander about them supporting the Nazis and that will only ensure you have more on your soul when you approach the judgment throne of Christ. For the record, there were more Catholics killed by the Nazis than all other religions combined, including the Jews.

You can crunch numbers all you want, but 10% of the Catholic vote that went republican still adds up to more than 100% of the baptist vote. What me to tell you how many Catholics are in this country compared to baptist? Not even close. And, Obama got 93 of the black baptist vote, and that’s a hell of a lot of votes from so-called “religions” blacks. Pro-abortion votes. Right from the baptists.
The Church will survive (because Jesus Christ said it would); it is simply changing. In my area they are closing schools and parishes (they use the euphemism “merging”, but only one building survives); they certainly don’t need my $.02 as they sell/rent out those buildings. Second collections were off the table years ago; the “double jeopardy” had become so commonplace it was a real source of griping. On the other hand, we have no shortage of altar servers or lay people that want to “play priest”; a few months ago for the first time my children returned to the pew because the only priest distributing Communion had returned to his seat (and they can’t receive from “play priests”).
My children are learning that the Vatican is the Church, and the shenanigans they see with our US hierarchy are irrelevant. Seeing Mr. Dolan yuck it up with Obama was priceless; what a hoax. The Dems have exposed the US Church as complicit in their reign (for those that didn’t see it already).
My wife refuses Communion from the Deacon also.
I’m not a fan of the “permanent deaconate”, but my larger issue is with the guys in suits/ladies in dresses distributing Communion. It shows how much the clergy has stopped believing in the Divine Presence.
