Well, House leadership made sure to elevate like-minded members to leadership; they took care to co-opt the Republican Study Committee; they packed the Steering Committee, which chooses committee assignments, with a bunch of loyalists. Now were seeing the effects of those decisions.
Maybe its because hes intent on repealing Dodd-Frank. Maybe its because he wants to use his committee assignment to advocate winding down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Perhaps its because of his opposition to the $1 trillion farm bill. Maybe its because hes just too darn conservative to sit on an important committee.
Earlier today, we provided a list of those who made it onto the Super A committees. Well, Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) is a conservative freshman member who was actually kicked off the Financial Services Committee. Members are rarely kicked off committees unless there is a scandal.
David Schweikert is one of those 2010 freshmen who is actually a Tea Partier in deed as well as rhetoric. While many freshmen folded under the pressure from leadership, Schweikert was actually removed from the Whip team because of his conservative dissent during the budget battles.
And who is replacing him on the committee? Our good buddy, Richard Hudson (NC-8), who was handpicked by leadership to run. Hmmm, I cant remember the last time a sophomore member was replaced by an incoming freshman for no good reason.
Moreover, there are at least seven vacancies on this committee. Its not like there were too many qualified candidates. Cantor and McCarthy went out of their way to banish Schweikert from the committee, even though he is one of the few remaining freshmen who were reelected. Its pretty sad they are willing to let their personal vendetta lead their decision to knock off one of the most knowledgeable members on issues pertaining to GSEs and monetary policy from the committee.
Then theres the case of Tim Huelskamp (R-KS). He is one of the most conservative members of the House. He was told today that his service on the Budget Committee would no longer be appreciated. Maybe its because of statements like this.
Update: Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) was also tossed off the Budget Committee.
There are more conservatives who are being left off any A or B level committee as we speak. Some dont have any committee assignments yet for next year.
Its becoming clear that there is only one faction that demands ideological purity. And its not the faction that upholds the ideology of the party.
Crybaby?? How’s about Boo Hoo Barbie? He’s the poster child for “metrosexual.”
I still have a sourness in the pit of my stomach over the outcome of the election. I fear Boehner/McConnell will cave before all is said and done. We have a travesty of “leadership” down there in the Methane Maw. sd
I’m not voting R again either.
Many on here whined when I first stated that.
Ain’t no use.
I am sure the RINO-Dem coalition will make sure any conservative rebellion gets quashed
“I would think they could still make money and have a desire to win.”
I wish, but I don’t believe winning as you, and I see winning is their game.
The name of the game as I see it is “the enemy within”.
I believe unless there is a way to bowl over the entrenched RINO factor in the leadership of the GOP then we will have to go with a third party, BUT if we organize, get the money, the support, which is possible with a well crafted Conservative platform unlike so many of the other special interest third parties, there’s a chance for credibility with the citizenry of this Nation, thus success unlike the Left predicts possible.
There’s also the good chance the Leftists ie; Democrats will overeach as they often do, and spectacularly of which there is growing evidence they are about to do, and will cut their own throats, but that’s a wait, and see.
I’d like to think that both scenario’s could be in the offing.
Not all Crybabies are useless.
“I believe Red States recent exposé on the consultant incestual situation between fundraisers, media companies, direct mail and digital has a lot to do with it.”
Have a link?
Cantor needs to feel the heat bigtime.
He may have meant American Spectator..
Unless RedState had another article. This one is a darn good read, though.
These bums need to be primaried and sent straight to their houses of prostitution on K Street.
NOW I hope everyone on this site understands what the GOPe wants from the so called grass roots pubbies. They want us to STFU and stay out of them becoming more Socialist but fully expect us to vote for them! This is the very reason they did a circular firing squad on AKINS and wanted him out no matter what! Grrrrrrr.
He is an idiot!
“He may have meant American Spectator..”
Thank you for the link.
...not anymore.
It’s time for a Conservative Party. Since the republican elites caused us to lose this election, and since we have nothing else to lose, we might as well form a new party, if for nothing else than to prevent the republican elites from ever winning again. I mean we have lost the country so what else are we afraid of? I feel like striking out at anyone who caused this mess, liberals, republican country club elites, hollywood, those of the 47% who sit on their tails and do nothing, and the main stream media. I never expect the republicans to be in power again. This was our last chance and we failed. The only comfort I can imagine now is to give the ones who caused this all the hell I can. A third party? I’m game....calling Sarah Palin
Yes, history says there will only be these “2” represented on the Nov. ballot, and so everyone will tell you to vote for the pubs as they are your only “alternative party”.
I used to own one of those when I played in a garage band! It sounded better and more authentic than Boehner.
I was going to type those words exactly.
And I bet it cried better than he does, too.
