ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Good morning this rainy Sunday! This morning someone asked me, "How do you like the lousy weather, Chaplain?" I thought a moment about the fact that my uniform was wet, my car had trouble starting, and about all those poor people stuck in the wall of traffic that inevitably occurs when 58 gets drenched. Then later I thought, how would we exist without the rain which makes all life on our planet possible? I remembered the old prayer in my prayer book, a blessing to God for the gift of wind and rain. There is an old story, a beautiful story, about a boy who came home famished after long hours of play with his friends. His mother served him some sandwiches which satisfied his hunger and caused him to thank his mom. She said, "Don't thank me, son, I only prepared the food." So he went to the grocer to thank him for the bread. "Don't thank me, young man, I only sell the food." He walked over to the baker and thanked him. "Son, you're thanking the wrong person, I only bake the bread." Wondering whom to thank, the boy went to the farmer to thank him. "Thank you for the fine bread that I eat every day," he said. "Don't thank me, my friend, I only plant the seeds. The earth, sunshine, rain, and wind make the wheat grow, not I.
By now the boy was tired and hungry so the farmer invited him to join his family for dinner. As they were seated around the table, each person took a piece of bread from the basket and said together: Praised be Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who brings bread out of the earth." So, today, let's thank God for the sunny days and the rainy ones, too--as well as for the food He gives us. Each day is truly a blessing! Chaplain Mitch Schranz

My Daughter Mary is coming back from Spokane for Christmas - I don't know at this juncture what my daughter Meghan has planned. My son Tom was up for Thanksgiving and will be with his mother in Florida for Christmas.
Christmas Night my wife's family traditionally gathers for dessert, gift exchange for the children, and Gemütlichkeit. We will attend that gathering as we traditionally do.
We're buying the tree next weekend - we go to the same place every year - a little pricy, but I cannot abide a tree that doesn't meet my standards. We've been getting some nice firs the last few years.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Good morning, ML, and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and Lynn-DAH. ((HUGS))
You ended up at the vet anyway, huh....antibiotics are probably a very good idea. How is the anit-licking campaign coming along?
Glad the jury system paid attention to your needs. They are sometimes deaf, dumb, and blind.

Tradition is a good thing....do you cut your own tree?
Or, are they already cut and just awaiting the right owner?

Yes...he is on Lexapro...we go for his 3 month checkup at the end of December and I will ask about the sleeping. The doc has always told him he needs to exercise more. Both my Mom and I try, but now we can have him remember with the nurse told him today. I made him stay up for dinner...I let him have a one hour nap, then had him do 3 laps of his usual bedroom, hall, living room, dining room, and kitchen, then back down the hall. Then left him with a tv program. I couldn’t get him to read or do a crossword puzzle. Then he said he was going to bed!! Pushing only goes so far. At least it was after 8p. That’s better than the whole last week.
