[history]
The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was written in order to keep the government from invading the right to be left alone--today known as the right to privacy. The Framers who wrote the Constitution, and Jefferson and his colleagues who insisted on the Fourth amendment among others, had suffered grievously at the hands of the British king and his soldiers.

They’ll eventually “leave you alone”....it just depends on your ideology, how attached to your money you are, and whether they have you in a cell somewhere.....

The Right To Be Left Alone What the hell kind of garbage is this?. You have no right to be left alone.
You're too stupid to be left to your own devices. Why, you could make the wrong decision.
Leave the thinking to our brilliant and well meaning progressive overloards.
Now get back to work and pay your taxes serf!

The right to absolute privacy, enforced by Draconian state administered punishments?
All government employees have that right, it's part of their "public servant" package.

"I am with the South in life or in death, in victory or in defeat...... I believe the North is about to wage a brutal and unholy war on a people who have done them no wrong, in violation of the Constitution and the fundamental principles of government. They no longer acknowledge that all government derives its validity from the consent of the governed. They are about to invade our peaceful homes, destroy our property, and inaugurate a servile insurrection, murder our men and dishonor our women. We propose no invasion of the North, no attack on them, and only ask to be left alone."

I think Michelle said something about this back in ‘08...
Something about being forced to participate or something. I’ll look for the quote.

Found it:
“He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed. “

It was destroyed by the war on tobacco and the war on some drugs. I’ve seen quite a lot of its advocacy and celebrations of its destruction right here on FR.

The wording at the time disturbed me.
“He is going to demand...not allow...”
Of course, when I asked my lib-in-laws about this wording and what she meant by it, they gave her the full benefit of the doubt for her benevolence.

It was destroyed by the war on tobacco and the war on some drugs. Ive seen quite a lot of its advocacy and celebrations of its destruction right here on FR. You'll see no shortage of those hypocrites. Lots of chest thumping about "freedom" until being confronted with not forcing people to live the way they want them to. Take a look at some of the posts around 2003-2005. God help you if you warned about how big and intrusive government was becoming. But when the other team in this retarded football game gets power, it's suddenly okay to pretend to be for small non intrusive government again.
