DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors is giving its Chevrolet Spark a jolt of electricity.
An all-electric version of the mini-car will debut this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It goes on sale this summer in California, Oregon, Canada and South Korea, where it's made. Other markets will follow.
Unlike the Chevrolet Volt sedan, which can run in all-electric mode but also has a backup gas engine, the Spark EV is a pure electric. GM won't say how far the car will go on a charge, but says it will be a top performer among the small number of EVs available. The current leader, the electric Ford Focus sedan, can go 76 miles on a charge.

I installed switches on all my exterior outlets after I found out that a former neighbor was plugging his pool filter into one of them after I left for work.
I’ll walk first.
yes , Spark = FIRE ,a brain dead Democrat must have come up with that name
Not a hybrid. ALL electric.......no gas engine........
I would have run a 220 line and used a 120 outlet.......
Lol.
A better solution would be to temporarily rewire the outlet your neighbor is stealing power from to put out 240 volts.
Then watch the smoke coming out of his pool filter or electric car.
Take the doors and roof off and it might make a good golf cart. Need wider tires, though.
Its about the same size as my golf cart only not as classy looking.
It is a “Ka” with an electric motor.
A golf cart would be better.
Metrosexual: A homosexual that can’t get laid.
Don’t buy their crap, buy mine.
Same Shiite.....less money.
People are stupid who buy these things.
You have to really manage and plan trips to ensure you don’t get stranded somewhere and you can’t refuel/recharge like you can with a gas operated vehicle.
Gas refuels in about 3 minutes and distribution is everywhere.
Electric recharges in 6+ hours and distribution is beyond sparse.
Try getting out of town in an emergency in one of those things. Not gonna happen.
There’s a reason why they are primarily bought by over $150k earners, primarily.
Electric vehicles are generally a 3rd vehicle in their household. they can afford to pretend they are doing their part to save mother earth.
It’s also a status symbol.
“How does this compare with the mediocrity at GM?”
Well, I have a neighbor who has both a Prius and a Volt, and he says that the VOLT is clearly a better vehicle. I wouldn’t have either one of them, but at least the Volt isn’t a Clown Car insofar as size and comfort are concerned. He commutes 110 miles each way to work and back with the Volt, and says that he hasn’t noticed a change in his electric bill since buying the Volt. I guess what pisses me off is that he pays no road taxes on the electricity like the rest of us do when we fill up. And for “going green” he get’s to charge up at work for free too.
That car just screams “Flaming Poofter Inside”
He wouldn’t do it again........
Ahhhh! You’re talking about the fart sniffers.
After subsidy ($7,500 from the gracious taxpayer...or our Chinese overlords...or whatever fairy provides this credit), it is set to cost $25,000.
$25,000!!!
