A Fox News anchor abruptly ended an interview when the guest criticized the news network. Jon Scott was interviewing Thomas Ricks about his book, "The Generals" when Ricks accused Fox News of hyping up the recent attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi.
According to the AP, Scott questioned Ricks as to why he would make such a claim when the attack resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Christopher Stevens - the first U.S. Ambassador assassinated in more than three decades.
Ricks asserted the incident amounted to a "small firefight" and said, "I think that the emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political, partly because Fox was operating as a wing of the Republican Party."
At that point, Scott thanked Ricks and turned to his co-anchor, who then threw to a commercial break.

A small firefight is a quick ambush or skirmish that ends as soon as you call in air support, certainly in under an hour (thank you USAF!!!). This was a sustained, organized terrorist attack on an American ambassador, and the Community-Organizer-in-Chief chose to do nothing for seven hours - long enough that Obama could have played two rounds of golf if he hadn’t been so busy raising funds for his political campaign, long enough that the terrorists could rape our ambassador before killing him.
People on FR seem intent on bashing Ann Coulter lately, but she lets the libs have it on TV.
By default, Obama killed any rescue, simply by ignoring requests for CBA.
Uh, huh. I guess Ricks never watches any of the other networks, which are clearly in the tank for the Democratic party.
The mighty songwriters were just angry we had generals.
“Ricks asserted the incident amounted to a “small firefight”....”
Right, just like the shootings in the Aurora Colorado movie theatre. Just a misunderstanding, no big deal. A free country cannot survive with such deranged individuals in the media distorting or ignoring the truth. I can understand shading the facts to benefit his side, but Ricks comment shows a detachment from reality. And such detachment by the left is becoming more frequent.
In the world-wide global islamic “ummah,” Benghazi is seen as America’s Stalingrad. Seriously.
The Amriki crusaders were driven out of Eastern Libya, the cradle of jihad, it total defeat, humiliation, and disgrace. The Amriki ambassador was killed and defiled, dragged through the streets. The Amriki did NOTHING in response.
Benghazi is seen by a billion-plus muslims as a sign of total collapse of American will.
As bad as the four dead are, the symbolic defeat is much, much worse in terms of setting us up for more attacks.
Yep. But if you didn’t know who wrote it, you could swear this is about today, right now...because from what we see now, this is exactly what has been going on...and worse.
Tom Ricks is a good writer and has written a number of interesting books. I highly recommend his book about the surge in Iraq. That being said, I’ve always suspected he’s a lefty. I believe the fight at the consulate in Benghazi lasted hours. No where in my Marine Corps training was a fight lasting hours characterized as a “small firefight”.
Interestingly, Ricks wrote a book about 15 years ago called “The Making of the Corps” about Marine Corps boot camp. The boot camp part and the changes implemented since Commandant Grey was very instructional. However, in the second part of the book, Ricks complained how the military (especially the officer corps) are way too conservative and how this is deterimental to the country. The whole time I’m reading this, I’m asking myself. What about your profession Mr. Ricks? Who is by trade a reporter. Is it more deterimental to the country to have a conservative minded military or a left wing press who are sychophants to liberal politicians?
“Uh, huh. I guess Ricks never watches any of the other networks, which are clearly in the tank for the Democratic party.”
Its more than just “in the tank”. How can anyone with even basic information about what happened conclude it was no more significant than a small firefight? It’s not even close to a credible statement.
I cannot imagine Ricks writing anything meaningful when he cannot connect the dots. So Benghazi was nothing more than a "small firefight" with only four white guys killed? What is the big deal Rick says? The heroes gave their lives to save thirty or more trapped members of the embassy staff. Why was their request for available support turned down?
Is Ricks emboldened because Obama won? Is Ricks a Democrat hack looking for a job in the Obama administration?
A verse from The Times they are a changin'
If it was “just a small firefight”, then why did Obama, Clinton, & Rice spend so much energy lying about the video as motive?
Maybe some book reviews at Amazon would help.
I wonder if this idiot would consider it “just a small firefight” if his own home were under attack by a gang of Islamofascists and the police refused to respond to his 911 calls.
Good idea....amazon readers ought to know whether his writing is good or crap.
I don't ever recall being in a SMALL firefight. Can someone explain what a SMALL firefight is. I bet no one who has been in a firefight calls it SMALL.

They are out in the cold.
Pretty soon these nonpersons will be removed from official photographs/images. I would wager the obscure are beginning to fade away as we type, if a few haven't had unfortunate events/accidents already.
Persistence on their part will be likely rewarded with prosecution on some charge, the systematic destruction of their reputations, or a dirtnap.
The high profile people involved are a clear message to the little folks that no one is too big, none too prominent, none too important, so the lesser players had better keep their mouths shut.
Calling this a Stalinesque obscenity is an understatement. For the second operation we know of (Fast and Furious/Castaway, now Benghazi, both likely gunrunning operations) which was likely approved at the highest levels within our government, people have been slaughtered and the Ministry of Propaganda (ABCNNBCBS) has barely made a peep.
