JUST 333,000 VOTES IN 4 SWING STATES WOULD HAVE GIVEN ROMNEY THE PRESIDENCY
Breitbart ^ | 11/18/2012 | MICHAEL PATRICK LEAHY

Posted on 11/19/2012 7:42:07 AM PST by SeekAndFind

On November 6, 2012, 3.2 million fewer Americans voted for Mitt Romney than President Obama. 61.8 million Americans voted for Obama, while only 58.6 million voted for Romney.

Despite losing the popular vote 51% to 48%--not a landslide for Obama by any means, but on the other hand not the “neck and neck” outcome many predicted--Mitt Romney would be President today if he had secured 333,908 more votes in four key swing states.

The final electoral college count gave President Obama a wide 332 to 206 margin over Romney. 270 electoral college votes are needed to win the Presidency. Romney lost New Hampshire’s 4 electoral college votes by a margin of 40,659. Obama won with 368,529 to Romney’s 327,870.

Romney lost Florida’s 29 electoral college votes by a margin of 73,858. Obama won with 4,236,032 to Romney's 4,162,174.

Romney lost Ohio’s 18 electoral college votes by a margin of 103,481. Obama won with 2,697,260 to Romney’s 2,593,779

Romney lost Virginia’s 13 electoral college votes by a margin of 115,910. Obama won with 1,905,528 to Romney’s 1,789,618.

Add the 64 electoral college votes from this switch of 333,908 votes in these four key states to Romney’s 206, remove them from Obama’s 332, and Romney defeats Obama 270 to 268.

Overall, voter turnout was down, from 131 million in 2008 to 122 million in 2012. Obama won 7.6 million fewer votes than he did in 2008, and Romney won 1.3 million fewer than McCain in 2008.

Romney improved his vote total's over McCain's by the slightest amount in three of these four states, but in Ohio, he actually had 81,000 fewer votes than McCain in 2008.

What do these facts tell us?

Still don’t understand why Romney didn’t demand a recount.

Could be any number of reasons.

What most refuse to acknowledge is that it was unlikely that ANYBODY could have beaten the voter fraud planned and perpetrated by the Obama machine. They seem to prefer pointing fingers, blaming Romney and blathering on about Patraeus' sex life.

Excerpt from Mitt Romney's reference:

These elections are NOT certified yet. The only way to get this investigated, much less recounted or overturned, is through the Secretary of State of each of the five key states: Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN ANOTHER STATE you can help. But it won’t do any good to dilute our effort to challenge California or Michigan or other states. Until a major group gets involved to do more, here is the plan: Contact the Secretary of State of the state in question. See contact information below...

It may have tipped and we should be deeply concerned because the GOP electoral map is not growing or standing still.

As I pointed out in another thread "registered voters" tend left of our old model of "likely voters" but I think what was a "likely voter" is shifting to include more of those left-thinking people.

We should not pin our hopes on Obama's name not being on the ballot in 2016 and assume those additional voters he managed to cling to won't stick around for his heir apparent. The Dems cracked the code on how to get its people to the polls in a modern way. Republicans did not.

This alarms me because it brings to mind CA slipping away statewide in the 90s.

It was because Mitt Romney is a gentleman, doncha know, and gentlemen do not accuse others of base behavior.

The biggest, and most glaring failure, was that Mitt did not keep his base together. A number of the more conservative voters, that turned out for Sarah Palin in 2008, either stayed home or undervoted on the ballot when it came to a Presidential preference.

Paul Ryan probably kept Romney from being thrown into an even greater rout, but he couldn’t carry the freight by himself.

It would be easy for us to say, “I told you so.”, and there’s a part of me that is there wanting to do that.

The sad reality, though, is that we will lose more freedom in the next 4 years, that folks are talking about raising taxes before they’ve even fought the spending wars, and that our enemies think we are a joke.

It is time for some kind of near-revolution, but there is no leader, just a bunch of politicians.

1. They tell us that Romney lost a chunk of his base.

2. They tell us that he ran a lousy campaign.

3. They tell us he was the wrong candidate.

All true and I'd add 4. They tell us that the lack of enthusiasm for Romney hobbled his campaign, denying it the ground troops necessary for an effective GOTV operation. That was what I was afraid of when I saw not just the apathy of most regular Republicans toward the candidate but the open hatred for Romney by a substantial minority of the conservative movement. The people (like me, for example) who grudgingly pulled the lever for Mitt didn't have the heart to volunteer, donate money or do anything more than the bare minimum.

The same seemed to be true for the Democratic base, but as mentioned above he started far enough ahead that he could afford the losses. Mitt couldn't.

Would’ve, should’ve, could’ve...the lazy asses in those states just couldn’t take the time to make their vote count. Now you got 4 more years of O-pression.

Cut the crybaby crap, Mike. Romney lost because of vote fraud. The fact that Romney himself was a fraud in terms of conservatism aggravated it.

My mom is 83 and has voted straight Republican every single election all her life -- except for this one -- she left the top of the ticket blank and voted down-ticket Republican. I've voted straight Republican ticket since I first cast a ballot in 1976 -- except for this year, when I voted third party at the top of the ticket and Republican the rest of the way.

Pal, my mom is not a "lazy ass" nor am I. Romney was over the line. I'm sorry Obama won, but I'm glad Romney lost. If you're willing to vote for Romney, what the hell is the point of being a Republican?

So you take your crybaby crap and go where folks are clueless enough to join you.

Couldn’t agree more...the GOP needs to face reality; you can’t rely solely on volunteers for your GOTV effort. In states like Ohio, Obama never left after the 2008 campaign. They’ve had paid staffers in Ohio (and other swing states) for the past four years, identifying potential Democratic voters and perfecting their strategy for getting them to the polls.

By comparison, the GOP ground game is based largely on “contacts;” if you make a call or knock on a door and someone responds, the volunteer gets credit for a contact. It reminds me of a guy who climbed the ladder rapidly at the CIA. He sent lengthy reports to his bosses at Langley on a recurring basis, detailing all of the field contacts he had made. Never mind that nothing ever came of the contacts. He created a metric for measuring his performance, and he was far ahead of other field operatives in the “contact” game.

The GOP needs a professional ground game in all of the battleground states, and the time to put them in place is now, not 2016. And it should be easy enough in places like Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina, where the GOP controls state government. No excuse for not knowing where every likely GOP voter is for 2013, 2014 and 2016, and having a detailed plan for getting them to the polls.

And for God’s sake, tell everyone in the party to stop counting “contacts.” They mean nothing, except a phone call went through, or someone came to the door.

Like my mom, you mean? An 83-year-old lifelong active Republican who, for the first time in her life, declined to vote Republican at the top of the ticket (though she voted Republican downticket)? You really think she didn't agonize over that decision? Do you really think she did it to "send a message"? Or like me, who after more than 35 years of voting straight Republican in every single election, for the first time voted third party at the top of the ticket? You are so shallow that you think this was about "sending a message"?

You've got a lot to learn about lines in the sand, principle, conservatism, the value of being a Republican, and the difference between compromise and capitulation.

I certainly remember hearing Miami-Dade in FL waits to report after the pan handle region, more red, reports...
Seems like they pull the votes out of their butts with that scenario...
I suspect it happens in OH, PA and in counties I could name in No.VA...
But we’ll never know, will we....
Unless Col. West wins the day...then maybe.....

No, Romney is done. No 2016. He’ll be too old, and Ann’s health won’t tolerate another run.

We move on to the next generation: Walker, Rubio, Haley, Martinez, Kasich, Rand Paul etc

Interestingly, it is the Dems who have the generation problem in 2016 - Biden vs Hillary.

There are eight states (Deleware, Georgia, Louisiana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming) that have finished counting ballots.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2012

In ALL of those states but Vermont, Romney got more votes than McCain.

How is that possible if significant numbers of voters stayed home because Palin wasn’t on the ballot?

And if anyone thinks that the total dropped in Vermont because of that, rather than Vermont simply becoming more fanatically socialist, then I have a bridge to sell you.
