Truce backed by Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, US, according to Channel 2 report; Egypt's Morsi says "some indications" of truce in Gaza, warns against ground invasion; Russo: Israel will continue until rockets destroyed.
Israel is currently negotiating a cease-fire with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to take effect later in the night, sources told Channel 2 on Saturday night.
Egyptian President Mohamad Morsi gave credence to the report, saying there are "some indications" of a cease-fire in Gaza, but that there were not yet any guarantees.
"There are some indications that there is a possibility of a ceasefire soon, but we do not yet have firm guarantees," Morsi told a joint news conference with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who was visiting Cairo.
"We are striving with all seriousness to stop this aggression, to reach a ceasefire. We call on everyone to adhere to what has been agreed upon, and we hope for an agreement on that at the earliest opportunity," said Morsi.
The agreement is backed by Turkey, Qatar, Egypt and the United States, according to Channel 2.
The Prime Minister's Office denied reports that Israel had sent an official to Cairo for the negotiations.
Just hours earlier, OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Tal Russo said Israel will continue the operation in Gaza until it achieves its goals of destroying the arsenal threatening our civilians.
"During the operation, we have destroyed some of a massive terrorists arsenal aimed at Israeli civilians, and the operation has not yet finished" Russo said. "This operation will continue more than a couple days."

Any “cease-fire” negotiated with the Muslim Brotherhood, the force behind this assault on Israel, is just because they had to have time to reload their launch vehicles....
Logistics is such a beyatch in these third world countries.
This silly cease-fire will tell me if Israel has learned her lessons.
How much pressure is there on Israel from the US to agree?
If you invade, do you even find all the missile stores?
Is this an exercise in futility? Probably so, but then in an absurd world, reason itself becomes somewhat absurd.
Expand on what you think Israel should do. It may make more sense then it seems on first blush.
Haven
‘t they learned anything?
Hamas needs to resupply.
A Hell of a lot of pressure, I assume.
Netenyahu is hopefully ignoring our nationial idiot all the time giving him reassurances.
Actually, I think the cease fire gives Israel some time to get more Iron Dome batteries built and deployed, as well as more interceptors. They’ve been kind of taking their time, but now they know the systems work and they’ve had a chance to see what the terrorists have to offer. They can use this downtime to tweak their programing and speed up production.
A cease fire short of destroying all of Hamas’ military capabilities would be a victory for the terrorists. The “international community” will cheer and make speeches. The Israelis will abide by the cease fire and the Palestinians will rearm to kill again.
I believe Bibi will do whatever he believes will be best for for the survival his nation.
Regardless, the Lord willing, Israel will soon cut the head off the snake and then where will Hamas get their rockets from?
They just intercepted one a few hours ago..
As well he should. So, the MSM and many countries are against Israel. Here’s a question......of ALL these “cease fires”, has Israel EVER been the one to break them?” I sure cant recall them ever doing so. So, why are so many against them? It seems even the American Jews are against them.....at least the 69% who voted for OblameA.
Cheers!
D1, anything short of carpet bombing the entire Gaza strip and then buldozing the rubble and the bodies into the Med is a half measure and will not end this cycle.
If the muslim brotherhood loves their palestinian fellow jihadis so much, let Egypt take any Hamas loving resident of Gza that chooses to leave after 24 hour notice from Israel.
Israel and Syria exchange fire in Golan
BTW - They do not know if they were Syrian regulars or Obama Terrorist Insurgents that fired upon Israel. As far as the Israeli's should be concerned, is there really much of a difference ?
Psst, Israel, don’t trust them.
Israel must go into Gaza and clean out as much of their missile stockpiles as possible. And kill as many Hamas terrorist leaders as possible. They need to decrease the attack capability of Hamas (in league with Iran) in order to neutralize any attacks from Gaza for when they go after Iran and bomb their nuclear facilities.
Israel doesn’t want war on many fronts, so in neutralizing Gaza, that eliminates one source of counter attack if they go after Iran’s nuclear facilities. Hamas is in league with Iran, and would counter attack on their behalf if Israel bombs Iran’s nuclear sites, so getting the Pali’s (Hamas) out of the way now gives Israel one leg up later, when it goes after Iran.
Israel will still be vulnerable to attack from Lebanon, but one front to have to fight on is better than two. Eliminate one of them now, namely Gaza. Gives Israel much better odds in the long run. Israel must eliminate as much danger from the Hamas front as possible, right now.
