Conservative scholar, talk radio host, and former Reagan administration official Mark Levin said conservatives need to first overthrow the Republican establishment to more successfully take on President Barack Obama and the institutional left.
We cannot get through Obama and the left until we get through the Republican Establishment, Levin said, railing against establishment consultants who attack the base and politicians who know nothing of Burkean reform because they have spent their whole careers clawing their way to the top.
In a talk at the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday with his mentor, former Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese, for whom Levin served as Chief of Staff, Levin said the Republican Party is, devouring the conservative movement, and the old bulls need to step aside in favor of a new generation of conservatives who are fluent in conservatism.
Its time for the old bulls to get out of the way and for the fresh faces who believe in conservatism and liberty and originalist principles to step up, Levin said, criticizing those like House Speaker John Boehner for yielding territory to the left in negotiations.
Levin said the Tea Party consists of constitutionalists, libertarians, Evangelicals, and those who are against the rigged establishment, beltway culture that for too long has not embraced conservatism and, as a consequence, lost national elections (George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney).
The Tea Party is the only thing that stands between liberty and tyranny, Levin said. We have to defeat the Republican establishment mush in Washington, D.C.

Yup. Stuck on stupid.
Mass bumper stickers, lawn signs and our letters to editors and phone calls, all saying the same thing, will identify us, but will also identify our movement and perhaps embolden the reluctant to bear up and fight back.
See our numbers and be activist with us. We need a cunning military/political guru, in the way of our own DeGaulle.
You wont change the Republican Party elite National Chairman, Reince Priebus, aligned himself with Romney and they shut out the Tea Party and conservatives at the national convention and passed a rule to be able to shut them down from now on. Priebus did not allow the words, Tea Party, be spoken in front of the convention. Every speaker had his/her speech gone over and any comments Priebus and Romney people didnt want was removed. That is the reason Palin turned down a speech she didnt want her words edited. It should be meaningful to you that she didnt go.
Those delegates, the base of the party that had been shut down, went home and told their friends and Romney lost votes.
Priebus already has the required votes to give him that office again in a few months when they have that election. He has their support and that means conservatives and Tea Party will remain second class citizens in the party.
We wont be able to elect a conservative candidate in the 2016 primary because Priebus and the rest think they have to go even more left than Romney to get independent voters and Hispanic voters and black voters.
They will attach the sign, Most Electable once again to their liberal candidate of choice, to assure his election as the winning primary candidate. That also assures his defeat in the general election even though you and others will vote for the liberal once again to try to prevent President Hillary Clinton from happening.
There is not a conservative Republican Party anymore.
This is my opinion and I worked inside the Republican Party for many years and I know how it works. Your opinion may vary.
Sheesh, Mark talks like hes a FReeper. Well, duh.
Well, like most FReepers, anyways. I'm getting real suspicious of those who race to every Sarah Palin thread to dump on her. They seem hellbent to do the work of the GOP-E. I, for one, am not going to stand for it. We can't afford to let the RINOists seize the day.
2012 wasn't a Tea Party campaign. It was a Romney campaign. One that chose to shut out the voice of the tea party. 2014 will be another Tea Party election and if we work hard and succeed in controlling the presidential nomination, 2016 will also be a tea party campaign. Palin '16!
See tag line, LOL.
The RINO's will not admit that they failed when the crowned their candidate, and it was an epic fail.
So what do they get for the next four years?! They don't care really as long as a good, articulate, and strong conservative does not get anywhere close to becoming the candidate.
The priority of the RINO party is not to win elections, but to make sure no strong conservative get to challenge the Dems. At least that is the way it looks right now.
I know: Sarah and Mark.
You’re down to our two solid patriots.
What a bunch of crap. Where were they in November? THEY STAYED HOME. Way to go!
It amazes me that Mark Levin is from Philly. That makes two conservatives I know from there. :)
Our problem is not with the tea party. It’s the RINOs who created this disaster. Point your fingers to Karl Rove, the GOP-e and to “electable” RINO Romney himself.
How do you know? When you say "they", does that mean you aren't one of the tea party? Do you not vote? I did. I'm tea party. What I think you mean is that the tea party didn't GOTV, which is more likely. The GOP-E could learn a lesson on that you don't push the tea party patriots away and expect to win. But they won't.
And a quick check of your IP address shows you were banned from FR during the primary for pushing RINOs. Don’t look now but YOU are part of the problem, retread RINO.
“He said after Reagan, George H.W. Bush lurched to the left rather than build up Reaganism and the party and the conservative movement has not been the same since.”
George Herbert Walker Bush, a much smaller man than Reagan, has made a life’s work of undoing the Reagan Revolution and bringing back the Rockefeller Republican machine of Prescott Bush, Nelson Rockefeller and George Romney et alia.
He has achieved that end.
The only good thing about the nomenklatura of the Geriatric Old Plotters is that for most of them their sun has just about set for eternity.
He's right: It's only by overthrowing the GOP-E that we begin re-claiming the party of Ronald Reagan.
Unfortunately, I live in Illinois, and all but ONE of the Tea Party Republican's that were elected here in 2010 survived the 2012 elections due to "re-districting" here in Illinois that was designed to eliminate the "Tea Party Republican's" and guarantee a Democrat stranglehold state-wide until at least 2020.
I gotta get the hell out of this state!
So rather than blame me or Romney or any RINO, why not offer som suggestions a to how the Tea Party can revive itself and recapture its energy?
One thing is certain: the meetings I attend in OH are down in attendance by at least 50%.
I maintain that BHO2 is neither Muslim nor Christian except when it is politically expedient. He self-avowed as a Marxist-Leninist during his years at Occidental College, and I believe he has remained a communist all his adult life.

You are correct. He is an Islamophile, but when the rubber meets the road his ideas are Leninist, although his implementations are more cautious.
The tea party is not the problem. RINO lovers pushing RINOs is the problem.
Third, some of the earlier successes have been regressing. Rubio is pushing the Dream Act, while Rand Paul has started saying some pretty un conservative things.
Cruz was a definite victory. But Jeff Flake is a serious step backward from Kyl. I don't' know if the Tea Party backed Flake but I assume they did as Palin did.
Once again, instead of complaining, try offering ideas as to how the Tea Party can regain its 2010 influence and energy.
