Petraeus mistress had substantial classified data on computer: sources
Reuters ^

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A computer used by Paula Broadwell, the woman whose affair with CIA Director David Petraeus led to his resignation, contained substantial classified information that should have been stored under more secure conditions, law enforcement and national security officials said on Wednesday.

The contents and amount of the classified material - and questions about how Broadwell got it - are significant enough to warrant a continuing investigation, the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to comment publicly.

The details about material held by Broadwell, a reserve officer in military intelligence, emerged Wednesday as the Pentagon suspended Broadwell's security clearance.

Jill (and her sister) seem like slightly more socially acceptable Kardashians, that is, very nutty, obsessive, emotionally needy publicity hounds.

Who let these people close to our top commanders and why? Probably because their political credentials and connections were good (they seem to be heavily tied in to the Dem establishment). The only question now is did they just go bonkers on their own, or were they encouraged to do this by somebody else?

That's true, but this is Reuters...look at the language—”The contents and amount of the classified material - and questions about how Broadwell got it - are significant enough to warrant a continuing investigation.” The classified info that is being referred she may legitimately have a reason to have. Reuters could just be using a very broad brush to smear her with.

There are so many layers here—

You’re really not supposed to have classified docs at home.....they need to be properly secured.

It wouldn’t surprise if its was known that Betray us took chicks in Apaches and shot at school children on play grounds.

It would not be reported by the DNC owned news media.

That’s what I’m thinking too. Even if you have the clearance you don’t just copy classified stuff onto a USB stick or put a copy in your Dropbox...

Wasn't this a HUGE issue with the Clinton impeachment but it was completely ignored by MSN?

For some reason it is important now after Benghazi.

My take on all these military shuffling is a prelude to a US direct attack on Israel they need to make sure they have nothing but 'yes men,'

"A computer used by Paula Broadwell....contained substantial classified information that should have been stored under more secure conditions, law enforcement and national security officials said on Wednesday."

LOL!

In other words, Broadwell's computer contained a bunch of embarassing data that became "classified" once the FBI and administration-directed law enforcement got their hands on it.

Yes, but in this case I believe our commander and chief is the one we need to watch.

They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to comment publicly.

They are only giving out information the administration wants them to.

I would be very skeptical of “classified”. That term includes anything from FOUO, confidential, to top secret or more importantly “whatever the hell they decide is classified” after the fact regardless of whether she had a reason to possess it or not. Remember, they have a story line and tale to spin here.

There seems to be a stunning amount of bad (dis?)information going around about all this.

Broadwell is a prom queen and valedictorian from North Dakota who went to West Point. Hardy the MO of a spy...

She has top secret clearance herself. Since she has high level clearance, it is hardly surprising that she would have classified info, and the real complaint here seems to be a technicality that she should have had it locked up better.

We’ve now heard about the shirtless photo guy and Jill Kelley...Except now the NYT reports that the shirtless guy is actually a veteran agent who shot a gun-wielding intruder at MacDil a couple years ago. Also, the ‘shirtless’ photo was him posing with some shooting dummies in a silly picture shared between families that share goofy pictures with eachother. If it is true that there is nothing remotely sexual or private about the ‘shirtless’ photo, and no sexual relationship at all between shirtless guy and Kelley, why are we even hearing about a shirtless photo? It is like somebody is trying to make us think the guy is obsessed with her, when he is very likely just pursuing a weird email that knows too much about the movement of high level generals and CIA dudes.

It almost seems as if there are different factions within CIA and FBI that are at war with each other trying to shape the narrative.

Or perhaps it is just the fog of reporters trying to get to the bottom of a sex scandal, and hyping random details in order to make them more titillating?

There is a public speech that she gave around a year ago...I watched the clip of it...where she rattled off that she had a Top Secret SCI clearance, and higher. I just sat there and wondered why you’d go and brag about such. She was some public-attention whore...nothing less.

Because of the classified data...the Army will spend around six months studying where it came from. My guess is that she downloaded onto some kind of media (either a USB-stick or a CD). If this is the case, then she will end up in some court martial episode...like the punk kid over at Fort Meade is facing right now. At the very least...she gets kicked out of the Army because of the general attitude right now over stupid handling of classified material.

Now, on another front...the affair? If there’s any connection to the period when she was a Army officer, in uniform, then they can bring out another charge or two.

At the very least...her Army career is wrapped up and finished. Journalism career? I don’t know if any major newspaper will hire her for the foreseeable future. She probably ends up out in Idaho in three years...teaching at some community college.

Keeping a classified computer at home is simply not allowed.

Some command personnel can.. but as an O-5, that's not going to be the case.

Maybe there are still a couple of Americans left in those agencies.

When the FBI has an “appointment” to pick up the documents from her home, what makes us think that they are were intact when she handed them over?

They should check the shredder remnants in her garbage.

The military is pretty serious about securing classified information. Somebody posted about how a large percentage of the prisoner population at the US Disciplinary Barracks at Ft. Leavenworth, KS are there for violating security procedures.
