Another question for Freepers. Specifically, Freepers who are black, Hispanic, and women.
Before and since the last election, I keep hearing that the Republican Party needs to do a better job at reaching out towards blacks, Hispanics, and women. Also, the youth vote. My question - what is meant by reaching out? What precisously does the Republican Party need to say to these groups in order to get their votes? Are we suppose to outbid the Leftists?
Hard to say. Personally, I will start shaming my fellow latinos. Ask them, if they are truly Christian, why would they support a party that promotes killing innocent children and homosexuality. Ask them, why would they go the way of the indios, and be bought by shiny things and mirrors. Ask them if they have any self-respect.
>> What precisously does the Republican Party need to say to these groups in order to get their votes? Are we suppose to outbid the Leftists?<<
1. More free stuff
2. Open borders
3. Government takes care of you from birth to death
4. Work is optional
5. Morality is a fiction
Reaching out is a code phrase to adopt more democratic party policies.
Abandoning conservatism and offering minorities free stuff, amnesty, and open borders.
LO0K TO 2010!
GO TEA PARTY!
“Reach out” is code for “sell out.”
No fanks.
There have been a number of posts today indicating that Republicans and Democrats are in bed together.
The word is "precisely". Spell check, or a dictionary, would be your friend. Words counts, language/syntax count. Let's take it up a notch, ok?
That said....an interesting post you have made.
The subject of the thread:
>> what is meant by reaching out?
Good question.
I don’t know if you, my FRiend, are male or female....but I’ll assume male.
In which case, I will say that you are a real man; ready to stand up for what is right and correct. I salute you.
Conservatism needs to become a 24/7 365 education process, especially in the Latino community and with women. Letting the left set the agenda and then showing up 30 days before the election to push public opinion doesn’t work in this day and age. From 2010 to 2012 we didn’t do enough of this. We assumed that as public opinion aligned with our views we could ride it to reelection. This was a primary error by the rnc and mitts campaign. It started during those debt limit debates in 2011. Our leaders got on tv and talked about process, not ideas every time the tv turns on, it must be to educate the voters and advance ideas
Let them suffer the results of their own stupidity.
Lady parts and tan skin isn’t going to protect them from what’s coming.
The left and the media really push the “conservatives are white supremacists” slander. We know it isn’t true, but none of the libs I talk to do. We need to fight back and do it directly.
We need to write and say over and over at every opportunity that arises, how sexist and racist the left is. We also need to laugh at them and say that minorities and women are too smart to fall for those kind of attempts to keep them from having a voice in the conservative movement and “vote supression tactics”.
Why are they so good at slander and we can’t even tell the truth?
Imho....repubs should talk more about the Hispanics who are here legally and are hard working. We all know them..we see them everyday. We need to quit talking like they all want welfare...it is not true. Do some...yes. but we should start honoring their hardwork because they do agree with us on social issues...we should also remind them of that.
I am sure many won’t like this and I understand.
I don’t know about reaching out but it is frustrating to try and talk with the left.
The left has spent so much time defining the right, it is hard to try and make a point with someone from the left quickly, because you must climb a mountain before you can even start on the issues. A person doesn’t always have all day, a week or whatever to try and sway and the frustration becomes enormous.
Why don’t we have as many documentaries mocking the left as they have of us? Why don’t we have documentaries showing the TRUE HISTORY of the democratic party. We have an image problem. If we can’t get past image easily, how can we talk issue?
We need to start getting in the colleges, we need to market ourselves and define ourselves and not let the left define us. I keep seeing anti-immigrant. That is a full on lie. But I see it over and over and over again.
I say much of our problem is not clearly defining ourselves and letting it be done to us. We have a marketing problem.
To me, “reaching out” is like “giving back”....a meaningless bit of twaddle.
Look at the Constitution. Then look at what the Congress people, president and supreme court, along with every single solitary military member swears to uphold when they are inaugurated.
Look at the Constitution.
Upholding the constitution is their job.
If morphing that into a competiion for votes for power seems to you, their employer, seems like it’s a good direction, then you can answer your won question.
If you think that the Republicans, who are finding themselves in a spider web trap made by “their friends from across the aisle”, and that they can actually win at that gam, as foolish a notion as that seems to be, then go ahead and reach out.
It always comes down to middle school politics. are they going to like you for joining up and keeping quiet, or are they going to throw you under the school bus when they are finished with you? Can you beat them at their own game, or are you going to be a bitter old qerson, obsessing that they won?
I’d like to see regular radio or tv spots during Oprah sort of shows, basketball games, soccer games -
promoting conservative ethics.
Positives about responsible gun ownership, teacher accountability, choosing life, real marriage, lower taxes stimulating jobs, less regulations helping entrepreneurship, etc.
I think they need to be systematic and regular, so the reasons behind conservative positions sink in.
This will take money, but I think it would be worth it. Perhaps some super PACs could take it up. Remind people of the Republicans’ role in ending segregation and supporting civil rights, etc.
is a media code word(s) meant to define the republican party as racist.
When high profile appearances were given at the RNC convention to people who have achieved so much like Mia Love, Susana Martinez, Condi Rice, Marco Rubio, Artur Davis and others, they were defined by the media as "tokens" and/or "sell outs.
Reaching out is crap. It means to follow the lead of the democrats and start promising free stuff and special treatment. The republican party needs to get on with conservatism and keep selling one thing; LIBERTY. If that doesn't interest people the society is already lost.
