Report: FBI whistle-blower contacted Eric Cantor on David Petraeus affair By: John Bresnahan and Jake Sherman November 11, 2012 12:16 AM EST

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor spoke to an FBI whistle-blower two weeks ago who accused then-CIA Director David Petraeus of having an extramarital affair and potentially jeopardizing the security of classified information, according to a news report.

Cantor’s chief of staff, Steve Stombres, later met with FBI officials to pass on the accusations from the whistle-blower, the New York Times reported on Saturday night.

Cantor’s involvement in the Petraeus scandal is the first indication that anyone outside of the FBI knew Petraeus was under scrutiny for an extramarital relationship or potentially leaking classified information.

“I was contacted by an F.B.I. employee concerned that sensitive, classified information may have been compromised and made certain [FBI] Director Mueller was aware of these serious allegations and the potential risk to our national security,” Cantor said in a statement.

Is it possible that Patreus was being blackmailed . . . by the White House?

It appears that they knew about the affair for some time, and rather than confront him immediately about it, they were forcing him to take the heat for Benghazi.

What a career! The general has gone from a military hero, to a villain of the left; redeemed and all was forgiven and forgotten by the loonies; and lo and behold, when a villain is needed, shazam, there he is again!

Couple that with supporting the insane ROEs 0muzzwad wanted in Afghanistan and folding like a cheap suit when 0muzzwad wouldn’t approve all the troops he requested and that finished him in my eyes too.

Sorry Andy, I think you don’t have a clear understanding of this whole situation and the motives of the various factions involved. And you are certainly not understanding my point or what I would (or would not) do “willingly”.

Was Obama using this info to control Petraeus? Does he employ similar tactics with others who work for him? I don’t think most people care if Petraeus has or had an affair. But if the mistress is a psycho stalker, then she needs to go. And so does he. But we don’t know the details. That is why we vote for men and women of integrity to be our leaders. Haha

It sure was nice of Cantor not to leak the info to Drudge BEFORE the election, wasn’t it?

Cantor didn't know anything had happened, he knew that a whistle blower alleged it had happened. Democrats can cry wolf all week long, and twice on Sunday, without ever being called for it. If a Republican gets it wrong and goes with a nothing story just once, they will never live it down. Besides, how could Cantor go public with this without compromising his source?

Cantor needs to go. He made himself part of this story. If Boehner knew, he also needs to be replaced in the leadership position.

At the least Cantor should have called Petraeus back to testify after he found out about the FBI probe. Cantor already knew Petraeus lied to them and some in Congress wanted to impeach him over his dishonest testimony. Cantor had an obligation to do his duty.

It will be entertaining to see Obama’s press conference on Thursday (I think he is having one). It would be hard for the media to ignore this issue, since it makes no sense. Jennifer Griffin (Fox News) made it sound like he did not need to resign as the FBI knew about this BEFORE he became head of CIA... and that the blackmail attempt may not have been about this... Have not herd anyone say if Holly knew. I figure she did, and this is all lies. I don’t believe he resigned because of this. It was used as an excuse.

Why, on the eve of his Benghazi testimony, do the consensual peccadilloes of Petraeus, and only Petraeus, become a major issue?

I heard a caller on a show this evening find it odd that top official like Patraeus would resign without also holding a press conference and with his wife standing next to him.

That “crap” came from a 1979 ABC miniseries, which may not have been true. Not sure where Clinton got his info/story from.

One thing we do know - Anything event or statement related to Obama or his administration is dirty.

.

I have never trusted Cantor

There was something about Cantor that just did not ring true

Now we see him joining the Obama Coverup Team in smothering all the dirty stuff that happened well before the 2012 election

.
