rally was scheduled on Long Island Saturday for fed-up utility customers to voice their frustration about still being without power nearly two weeks after superstorm Sandy struck, CBS Station WCBS reports.

Why are they cold?
Have they no coal or oil for their furnaces ?
Just how far from the coast are gas stations out? Nobody has a buddy with a pickup truck, who lives where gas is available, and who could be paid to show up with a couple dozen 5-gallon containers of gas?
Have they no coal or oil for their furnaces ?
This might explain why: Flames destroy more than 100 homes in Breezy Point
Or this 60 Minutes report, which aired last night: Devastation and determination in Belle Harbor
Thanks for the tip. I have an old house that never hooked up to street gas when it became available (I hate my electric stove - can’t tip the omelette pan just so :(
I’ve been tempted to have a line run in, but am waiting for my old oil burning furnace to conk out and make one big investment for the heat plant, stove, fireplace, etc.
I had a gas heating system, and gas water heater when I bought the house. When my electric range needed to be replaced, I got a gas stove. When I lose power (which happens two or three times a year, usually in winter), the house heater stops working because it also needs electricity, but the gas range can keep the house tolerably warm (yes I do open the windows a crack for ventilation).
BTW the language you chose is to express yourself with is usually employed by truck drivers hanging out their windows, screaming at the traffic and Occupy Wallstreet demonstrators.
The folks have a gas stove, but a “safety feature” prevents the oven being lit while the power is out. Luckily they also had a generator & portable heaters.
Typical of the idiot proofing of our society, replete with unintended consequences.
The older I get, the less I suffer fools and their cr@p . . .
and you're up to your eyeballs in it.
A crude old person. Something to be proud of.
You ain’t seen nothing yet ...
Don’t mess with granny.
