rally was scheduled on Long Island Saturday for fed-up utility customers to voice their frustration about still being without power nearly two weeks after superstorm Sandy struck, CBS Station WCBS reports.
Many residents will spend their 13th day in the dark and cold Saturday, and there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel

I replied back to them as I always do with a question, slightly snarky remark, a fact or two since they do appear to need some education. Have never heard back from a ONE.
I’m only their list as an “infiltrator” lol.
I’ll take your quote and reply back again. Be prepared to never get a response, even if sent to the contact email.
I said THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD not HEMPSTEAD TOWN. Two different things.
I live in THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD, but not in HEMPSTEAD TOWN.
I live SOUTH of the Southern State.
Oceanside, one of the hardest hit towns is in THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD.
Kate Murray is the REPUBLICAN Supervisor of THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD. http://townofhempstead.org/supervisor
I hope you enjoyed the civics lesson.
There are a myriad of reasons why the utility companies are so slow in recovery after storms.
1- They are regulated by government authority
2- They have very tight inventories of poles, transformers, etc. (all across the country)
3- Most are top heavy management and bottom light workers
4- All companies rely on workers from other areas of the country (and from other countries)
5- Back to regulation...their profits are regulated by government
6- Back to regulation.....because of that they shed many of their workers (retired aren’t replaced)
7- Would you hold inventory in “Inventory Tax” states?
These companies are very top heavy, rely on a network of a limited amount of actual hands-on workers around the country and with sparse ‘just in time’ inventory of equipment. (just like grocery stores have very limited on-hand food - same goes for utility companies)
At this stage in the game - the workers are there but most likely don’t have anything to put up - they are most likely waiting for inventory and are driving around looking busy.
Buy a Generator (no matter where you live)
(DH is a recently retired lead lineman for a large utility in New England who’s worked in Canada, Puerto Rico, Texas, NY, Ohio, Arkansas, Mississippi - all within the past 15 years (before that it was helping other utilities just within New England) - and yup, no one replaced him)
I do feel sympathy for you and others who do not deserve the sort of comments that are being spewed here and elsewhere. I have friends in NJ and NY who have lost everything or who have been going through very trying times dealing with the storm damage. They're not liberals either.
All of those people in the Midwest lost EVERYTHING during the geoengineering-gone-wrong super tornadoes. I never heard a peep out of them, just saw them calmly picking up the wreckage and moving on. The whining from the leftists back East started almost on day one. Like someone said, boo hoo, cry me a river, you get what you pay/vote for (Barry Soetoro).
Suck it up NY, you wanted big government, now you've got it.
The RATS that lord over you control nothing beyond county dog catcher in this state.
Now run along a repair your windmills and solar panels. Don't forget to feed the unicorn you will be riding to work.
All those extremely high taxes and this is the bests they get for their money. Liberalism just doesn’t pay.
Hey, but how about that awesome hurricane response? Democrats like Michael Moore and Chris Matthews are so thankful for Sandy they will dedicate their Thanksgiving meals on it. Maybe even hold Sandy-themed Thanksgiving Dinners from now on.
BTW- did FEMA ever get around to giving away some MRE’s?
Go F yourself and keep voting Democrat.
What I don’t understand is why doesn’t the goverment have warehouses loaded with stuff they could airlift at a moment’s notice.
I know every contingency can be taken care of, but at least a basic set of generators, MREs, tents, heaters, portapotties, bulldozers, etc.
Funny. That's what I thought as well. This great storm that slammed us right before the election, then the nor'easter that hit us right after the election.
I do believe the "blues" punishment has just begun. Unfortunately, those of us here trying to fight back the commie machine suffer as well.
Although, several of us neighbors pulled together. Some had gas stoves, so were able to cook. 5 households got together. Who ever had gas stoves cooked and brought food. People like me who have electric brought the wine.
For a few hours we forgot we were in the dark. During the day, my landlord went and chain sawed the trees laying across our road. Us girls pulled the branches aside, raked and swept (had NO IDEA how heavy those tree trunks are, even the little ones!)
There was the 1 culprit tree (first one to fall) the town didn't clear. IT TOOK 2 MEN (very nice...and nice looking) FROM OHIO TO TAKE IT DOWN!
We chatted them up once they were done and gave thanks to them. We were SO grateful! Thank goodness everyone was being nice to them (we asked how they were being treated).
So, Ohio, thanks for the lending of your guys. It is very much appreciated!
funny.
Donating to MoveOn would help hurricane victims how?
exactly, funny.
I cannot believe that they have not found some way to transport these people out of the area and place them in temp housing or something. This is ridiculous and YES there are also Republicans and conservatives in the mix.
Yeah Captain....go buy a generator.
And good luck getting gas to go buy that generator and the gas needed to fill it.
Fat chance . Media will come to bloomberg’s
rescue in time for his 4th term .
The people will be awe struck and wait on line hours for the opportunity to vote for him.
I didn’t have any TV for 5 days after the hurricane here on Long Island, but when we got it back last Friday until the election they were still not reporting what was really going on.
