Could people in DC/Chicago be thinking that he cannot testify about CIA without that agency first approving what he has to say? That would be false comfort for any who might believe this resignation will force the General to be silent.

Any prohibition on revealing the truth, even if classified, does not apply to sworn testimony in Congress or any court in the US. The House or Senate do not even need to subpoena Patraeus. They only need to get him there under oath.

This whole thing stinks! The FBI was spying and reading the CIA director’s email that they “just happened” to come across???? Think about it! Very strange!

With the stress and emotional trauma Patraeus may be experiencing he could literally fall on his sword.

Simply, water does not mix with oil. It doesn’t have to be about a deep dark conspiracy. The General quit and Obama just got reelected..it’s not rocket science.

It seems that he made a deal with Obama team.
He knows too much, but his lips are sealed.

America is in a dark age now. media is not media any more. We can’t get any truth.

I think the General has fallen on his sword for the good of the country. He by admitting to his tryst is saying to those who were blackmailing him “I’m coming to get you!”

Unbelievable disgrace is totally believable when it comes from the democrats...

They actually use adultery to cover-up treasonous manslaughter.

Unbelievable/believable.

0bama has history of doing this kind of stuff from the time he first started runnng for public offices.

BUT...our military/cia/etc. ain’t all squeaky clean either.

We ‘re making a mistake to think in a SHTF moment they will save the nation. That is a romantic notion at best when some 50% of them voted for 0bama as well.

Time will tell us why Patreaus resigned, but the article mentions Impeachment.

That’s a joke.

All impeachment come from the House.

Boehner

LMAO

What if Patraeus never had an affair and told his wife that he was going to do this to get out of testifying. The only problem is the woman getting attention as the other woman. Could the Patraeus’ be paying her off?

More like falling on a little pocket knife, I posted this on an earlier thread...

This isn’t A + B = C ... what is going on is more akin to Math and what the guy in “A Beautiful Mind” was scribbling on windows ... it is a very high level Chess game.

The price that the General just paid says more about the level than the facts that we now know.

I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night so I couldn’t possibly know... but I did spend 28 years in Uniform and I do know that this little dagger that Petraeus is falling on now is magnified 10X (or more) in the Media to make it look like a Sword... it is an illusion or distraction... the who, what and why is yet to be determined and will probably never be known to any others than the few that are engaged in this particular game.

Also Petraeus is way too powerful for Zero to just let go peacefully to pasture... he knows far too much and has many allies and if he had somehow been forced to put his Queen at risk... Zero has lot’s of people to take care of things while he plays Golf but recently he has stepped into a different realm and I predict (quite sure of it) he is going to fall far ... far short of the task ... Biden can’t / won’t last either so President Boehner?

Interesting times! (Chinese Curse or an excuse to Pop Corn)

TT

PS The Media Investigates, Reports and Publishes at an Eighth Grade level, they are never to be believed.

I don’t see what the fuss is all about, except that it is agenda-driven. Petraeus is merely a general. Remember how gently the media and most of congress treated the COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF Bill Clinton for his disgusting behavior? We know that General Eisenhower had a little something going on with his driver. We know JFK, and FDR were not faithful to their spouse either...yet they are revered. Why is the media, including FOX, yammering on about Petraeus, unless it is to degrade his reputation and his potential testimony?

Isn’t it ironic that he comes clean so that he cannot be blackmailed and the person trying to blackmail him is the president...?

A four star General....becomes involved in a petty relationship with a journalist....

Petraeus graduated from West Point in 1974. He earned the General George C. Marshall Award as the top graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College Class of 1983 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

He subsequently earned an M.P.A. in 1985 and a Ph.D. degree in international relations in 1987 from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, then served as an Assistant Professor of International Relations at the U.S. Military Academy from 1985 to 1987.

His doctoral dissertation was entitled “The American Military and the Lessons of Vietnam: A Study of Military Influence and the Use of Force in the Post-Vietnam Era”.[28] He also completed a military fellowship at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in 1994–1995, although he was called away early to serve in Haiti as the Chief of Operations for the UN force there in early 1995.[

“Could it be he is sitting on stuff that would tempt some in ccongress to consider the president’s impeachment — and Obama knows it?”

We’ll know for sure when he turns up dead from either
suicide or heart attack.

“Being ordered to testify would technically allow him to remain loyal to Obama and his oaths as a military officer.”

That sentence bothers me. Loyalty to a President? Not the Constitution? Not the nation? That is the stuff dictatorships are made of.

“Could people in DC/Chicago be thinking that he cannot testify about CIA without that agency first approving what he has to say? That would be false comfort for any who might believe this resignation will force the General to be silent.”

My guess is that Bronco Bamma has had the FBI ( Eric the Holder runs that) digging dirt on anyone in the Regime that could expose him for years.

When it looked like the General might testify they sprung the affair on him so he would have to resign.

Now if it looks like he still might testify we will read about how he committed suicide due to his shame over the affair.

History will be judging America much like look in wonder at how and why the Nazi party took hold in Germany and were “allowed” to get away with the Night of the Long Knives.

I believe he was set up...60 is a little old for an affair of this nature.

I believe he resigned so he could TELL THE TRUTH. Remember, a few days back (before the election) he said it was NOT the CIA who gave the Stand Down order.
