Today, I instructed my wife to prepare for post Obama election by doing the following:

Obama needs to get the deficit down, how do you suppose he will do that, cutting government? NO, he is coming for your money and wealth! How does government do that? It steals it from you. Are you going to just stand there and get mugged by the government?

Subsistence hunting may become necessary sooner rather than later.
Rather than piling up firewood what you need to do is check out your chainsaw ~ make sure it's in working condition, then track down where some of the EPA employees live. Theirs is the first place to sack for firewood ~ not their homes but their lots. Practice the route a few times, and wait until other fuel sources are exhausted ~ the trees continue to grow.
ummm, at 10 cord a year (and I sure hope your dwelling is more heat efficient than that's that's 50+ years worth. And it's likely you can get lots more in those 50+ years.)
so 'am assuming you figure wood will be valuable commodity for barter/sale. BTW, you got a donkey or two planned? Mustang won't haul a lot, especially when it runs out of gas...or stored gas has gone 'sour".

I’m a “simple liver” although I don’t use that term since I found out that most of the simple living folks are liberal whackjobs and environ mental cases.
That is old school, we use cleaning ropes, one pull and it is cleaned and oiled!
Second, I have been cutting wood most of my life, KI have three chainsaws with full chisel chains, Huskys.
We have more than 500 acres of land with all the wood we will ever need and our drive way is exactly one mile to our house. We raise fish, our own ducks for eggs (free range), and there are plenty of wild life for additional food if and when needed.
I can't believe how funny everyone thinks this is! You are either ignorant of what is coming or just don't care, either way, being prepared is nothing to be chided or laughed at!
Remember the story of the animal that would not help gather food for the winter, electing instead to play while others stored their food. Winter came and he had no food and demanded his neighbors feed him. Guess what happened!

Bumping your post. Gonna talk to Mr S about this. How do you get your internet? We’re bundled with Comcast - TV, Cable and phone, but I want to get OFF Comcast.
I respect what you’re doing. It may or may not be a bit extreme to most, but it’s certainly not hurting anyone.
