I called Comcast last night and cancelled my cable TV. When the young lady on the phone asked me why I was cancelling it I explained that we just had a change in our financial situation. I told her that my wife and I both work full time and because we have good paying jobs we are now going to have have to pay higher taxes as we are for some reason considered the enemy. I went on to explain that we have fixed expenses such as a mortgage and car payments that we cannot cut. With 4 kids who are rapidly approaching their college years we do not have disposal income. This was just the start as I have to begin preparing now for the reality of the next 4 years.
What I didn't tell the young lady was that there is an added benefit of this change as I will no nonger be sending my hard earned money to to the owner of the hate filled network MSNBC. Any company that allows the lies and distortions to flow night after night from their hosts needs to hear from their customers. The news coverage from NBC over the last few months was incrediably biased with the hosts continually singing the praises of the President while ignoring the deteriorating economy, the scandal in Libya and Obama's Katrina. Nothing new but this time in my own small way I will adjust for our unfortunate economic reality and at the same time hopefuly do my part to send a message to Comcast that a significant portion of this country does not agree with the hate and lies that constantly flow from the NBC properties.
“digital TV antenna”....??? Why? There is no functional difference between “regular” TV antennas and so-called “digital” -— it is nothing but marketing. My Mother-in-law happily continues to use her same outdoor antenna she has had since LONG before the digital switchover. She gets lots of channels for free.
Yes .... HD indoor ... sits on top of the TV set ... $15.00 at Target.
Yes, and we have the advantage, because the parasites can't do without their goodies for very long without eating each other. It's the nature of a mindless parasite.
We have the advantage because we have the disciple and PRINCIPLES.
What used to be old fashioned VHF channels 2-13 that used large antennas are now transmitted in digital format in the UHF band which uses small and bow-tie antennas. If M-I-L has a UHF element on her external antenna, this is what is now getting the digital channels, even those called 2-13. In areas that had no UHF, now a UHF antenna will be needed.
I know this sounds harsh, but it's time to put away our toys in a time of war. And WE ARE IN A BRUTAL WAR, ON OUR OWN SOIL!
We cannot keep living life as we always have, as if everything is okay.
I'm looking for alternatives to their services. Dixie cups and a string if necessary.
Since the broadcasting stations changed their broadcasting frequency when they converted from analog to digital, I suspect either:
tvpc.com
and others
EXACTLY, gird your loins, it is going to get very Brutal. They need us MORE than we need them, that is a FACT. If we determine to stick it out, WE WIN.
It is high time, parents refuse to allow the trash their kids are bringing in via their music, videos, etc....
I always told my kids, I'm the parent, you're the child.
They ask WHY? My answer: Because I SAID SO, any problems?
If you steam your movies, they melt.
PFL
So is the head of the United States. Are you leaving?
Can you tell me what they charge a month for just computer?
I should say for “just internet service.”
for thew people on here...Glenn Beck is plotting to expand his Blaze Tv into more cable operators. next his is heading to U-Verse. I know you can still get it on the web and Roku. I am just saying that his plan is to take on the left and Fox News. The guy wants to turn the thing into the a cable news channel.
There are plenty of places in the US to go visit, and many of them in red states, at that.
My m-i-l needs nothing but the family likes to do the gift giving.
So what we’ve decided to do is give something in her name out of the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas gift catalog. It gets used overseas somewhere where it’s needed and is not just a useless handout but something the people need.
Varies by area, so no I can’t tell you. :(
I like that. It's a real world one word equivalent of answering that kind of question with "who is John Galt?"
I'm seriously thinking about cancelling DirecTV and saving $900+ per year. With a wireless Blu-Ray DVD player I can get Netflix and Hulu for $8 per month each.
It’s very tempting...
