I propose that actual tax payers, free loaders not included, from the current 50 states vote on the status of Puerto Rico. I pretty confident independence would win in this scenario.

They kicked out their Republican Gov. last night as well. This will be nothing more than a New Jersey floating in the Atlantic vote wise.

If they can get rid of the Republican majority of the House in 2014, we will see statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C. Perhaps even the Virgin Islands.

Of course, the position of the Left has long been to fight US jurisdiction over the Island, viewing it as passing possession from one colonial power (Spain) to another (the US). It was not so long ago there were Puerto Rican terrorist groups conducting bombings in the United States. Recall Clinton’s pardoning of the FALN terrorists.

But where there is an opportunity to enlist allies in their race and class warfare within the US, the position of the Left is reversed, and I expect they will push PR statehood when they have full control of Congress.

This will seriously mess up the symetry of that field of stars on the flag.

Why are so many against this?

I would welcome them as our next state.

My adopted daughter has Puerto Rican heritage. I see nothing wrong with them wanting to better their American status.

>If Congress grants its approval, Puerto Ricans would have the right to vote in all US elections

Boner is likely to shed a tear and vote for this insanity.

We do not need 3 or more electoral votes for the democrat welfare party.

Funny...I’m looking for a state that wants to leave the union. If Texas ever opts out i’ll be there! America is now more of an ideal than an actuality. We need someplace where that ideal can be replanted and allowed to flourish.
