This is a great article. Notice what the author implies at the end.

Yes, good article which offers little or no hope, which is as it should be. I said last night that I am through with national politics. From now on, the only politics that will interest me are state and local. I will likely get more work accomplished by not hanging on every Free Republic thread anymore.

Noticed .... very good article, thanks for posting. Gave me a new tag line, too.

This guy nails it.

I left the GOP back in the day when that arch-traitor, Bill Buckley, kicked PJB out of the party. PJB's been a voice crying in the wilderness since then. Look, my "conservative" friends. PJB screamed about the demographic changes being foisted upon us. So did I. Any conservative who states the obvious truth is shouted down by the very people who should be shouting "amen."

I have long held that secession is the answer. Just look at the blue-red electoral map by State. The boundaries of a new country suggest themselves. Look at the same broken down by county. Looks even better. We'd probably pick up Saskatchewan and Alberta in Canada. We can do this. Actually, we wouldn't be seceding. We'd be kicking out New England and the Left Coast.

We could arrange a large population transfer, hopefully within the bounds of rough justice to all.

It's time to, as the old lady said in the recent Michael Moore video, to "burn this m*******er down."

Let's do it. Let's secede.

No truly "conservative" Republican will ever win nationally again.

I hate to agree, but I do.

By the time the policies of these next four years are fully implemented (along with the continuation of the last 30 years of liberal policy), and solidified in our national psyche ... that much of the population feels entitled and is receiving a free ride at the expense of fewer and fewer people working ... no one who runs a platform that espouses the deconstruction of this system could ever get enough votes to win.

Take note of this before you cheer the diminution of faith and fancy it can be replaced with Ayn Randism. Without the Christian right, there is no right at all.

I think he's right; this "Obama win" was really a cultural thing. It wasn't a huge win, but it definitely shows that the majority in our culture has fundamentally changed and most people now believe that we get everything, including our morality and our pattern for conducting our economic lives, from the all-knowing socialist government.

In a sense, however, this isn't completely accurate. Romney, with his liberal social values and big-government orientation, offered no clear alternative to the majority culture, meaning that he didn't give the religious or even the residual socially and economically conservative minority a clear enough rallying point to garner voter support.

My feeling, however, is that perhaps this will show the GOP that they can't win by trying to be Dem lites and that maybe this will push some of our better conservative thinkers and activists to really get out there and fight to win the hearts and minds again, so to speak.

If you ask me the author is talking about taking a course that ends with secession and the dividing up of the territory of the states.

When he says "if I were a governor I would certainly make news". He means someone like Rick Perry would simply say "Obama care STOPS at the border of Texas". There will be no enforcement by the IRS or any other federal agency. Etc. etc.

Where We Go From Here?

I’ll tell you where we are going. Straight to hell in a hand basket.

America is playing hot potato with a grenade and they have nobody to toss it to.

We are fu*ked as a country. America voted for socialism.

If I had the money I’d get some land in the country, grow my own food and hunker down. As it is I’m stuck in the suburbs, tied to my house and business. I see no good way out of this situation. America the dream, the experiment is over. I don’t see us seceding, even here in Texas. We’ve talked about it for years. Nobody has that big of cajones.

Last phrase...

“in the course of human events”

seems I’ve read that one somewhere before.
