I want just ONE of these liberal Democrats to explain how charging a $25 tax on each new gun purchase will “stem the carnage” on the streets of Chicago.

This is good. it can set up a challenge that a gun tax (like a poll tax, or newspaper tax) is an “infringement” of the right to keep and bear arms. Then, we can end the NFA tax silliness regarding silencers and machine guns.

If one were intelligent and/or honest, one could make the empirical observation that crime in cities is inversely proportional to the percentage of law-abiding gun-owning citizens.

If one were intelligent and/or honest.

Yup, certainly.
After all, it’s law abiding citizens who do all those shootings in Chicaggy, right Democrats?

Recently up here in the UP of michigan some of my neighbors whom own a camp ( fancy word for a house and property as a second home) from Chicago, Illinois were talking talking to me aout this tax on guns. It will drive the legitimate gun purchaser away from Cook County and go to an outlying county to purchase a legally purchased gun. Yes the criminals will not go about purchasing a gun through the legal means. Cook County in its infinite wisdom does nothing but create problems with its wisdom is actually stupidity at its finest. Wonder where Obama got all his intelligence from the best of Cook County legislative brain trust - collectively known as Democrats - better known to the people of Illinois as the dumbkopfs of Crook County. This has been cleaned up to keep it nice and clean with no offensive profanity. Look forward to next year and the camp being filled about again from the hunters from Illinois.

"440 murders in Chicago so far this year...."

Rahm Emanuel ( 2008): "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before".

"Put some ice on that" has been replaced by "slap a tax on that".

Yep....the first 10,000 anti-gun laws were stupid. This one ought to do the trick. What gangbanger wants to pay that tax?

“A leading anti-gun campaigner has told Sky News a new tax on guns will help end “carnage” on the streets of Chicago - where firearms now change hands for just $20.”

Mind boggling stupity! How many of these thugs buy their weapons from gun shops where they would have to pay the tax? Zilch, Zero, Nada. There are millions of guns available in the US and a tax in Chicago isn’t gonna stem the carnage one iota. Your wanna end the carage you gotta get rid of the thugs, not the guns. Start executing a few of the murdering thugs within a month of their murder trial. Now there’s some carnage for you. Better yet, just let the thugs keep executing each other. Give thugs a reward for executing another thug. Makes about as much sense that the anti-gun campaigner.

Maybe it will stem carnage. The state doubling taxes on the rich has gotten a lot of those people to move out of the state.

Want to stop the carnage in Cook County? Allow the honest people to buy guns for defense. Then, make it an unlimited bag limit on thugs shot dead by the potential victims. The county can pick up the dead thugs and dump them in the county incinerator. When the thugs figure they may be on the endangered species list, they might stop with shooting up “da ‘hood”. Make it painful, dangerous, and deadly for thugs and you get their attention.

Cook County is the most corrupt place west of Port-a-Prince. This gun tax is just another rake-off.

“Father Michael Pfleger, pastor of St Sabina Church in the city’s South Side, said the $25 levy is a start.”

Pfleger in the news again, I see. Anyone else remember this event from 2008?

If it’s a $20 gun, there’s a reason. It’s probably used in a crime and a real steal.
