The number of people casting ballots at early-voting places has now exceeded 2 million in North Carolina.
The State Board of Elections reported late Thursday afternoon that in-person early-voting had surpassed the mark. More than 2.2 million votes have been cast when traditional absentee ballots and those living or stationed overseas are added.
In 2008, more than 2.4 million people voted early in person and 2.6 million when all non-Election Day voting was counted - both records.
In-person early voting began Oct. 18 and ends Saturday afternoon. Mail-in absentee ballots must be turned in to local elections boards by Monday or postmarked by Tuesday.

How many did the machines switch from Mitt to Bam?
Not mine. (I voted on Tuesday here in Kannapolis.) Our county apparently uses good old optical scan paper ballots...just fill in the circles with a pen. Others, though, use the machines.

The idea of those voting machines being “open for business” for a week or more just gives me the chills. Talk about an open invitation to cheat! It’s tantamount to leaving the door of the bank vault unlocked with a sign on it saying “please don’t steal anything”. Democrats see early voting as the best thing ever...what does that tell you?
I was going to vote early today in central Florida. Decided after looking at the line that I am going to wait until election day. Over hundred people were waiting in line and it was mid afternoon on a Friday. I suspect turnout is going to exceed expectations.
In NY state, we found an old guy, who just happened to be the head of the local Democratic Committee, behind one of the old lever voting machines when they opened the polls at 6:00 am on election day. The Democrats just happened to win, with more votes on that machine then any other. Yet “ no problem with the machine or voting were found.”
The NC Constitution states that the election shall be held on “one day”. Go figure.
I hope there are a great many people in NC who realize firing Obama is the right thing to do.
You may no know it but they use OCR machines to tally your written ballot, those can be manipulated to fake the count, however if there is a challenge and they don't destroy or replace the paper ballots, they can actually do a recount.
Hey, you live in Kannapolis? We’re almost next-door neighbors. :)
North Carolina is already in the bag for Romney.
At this time in 2008:
Votes Cast: 2,129,739
Democrats 1,118,192 52.5%
Republicans 630,585 29.61%
Unaffiliateds 379,666 17.83%
As of today:
Votes Cast: 2,257,894
Democrats 1,083,225 47.98% [down 34,967]
Republicans 718,553 31.82% [up 87,968]
Unaffiliateds 451,488 20% [up 71,822]
Final results in NC 2008:
Obama/Biden 2,142,651 49.70%
McCain/Palin 2,128,474 49.38%
Obama won NC by a mere 14,177 votes.
McCain won the election day vote overwhelmingly, and I can’t come up with any reason why Romney won’t do the same (and to a greater degree). Thus, with the Dem turnout down and everybody else up, Obama has already lost here.
THE ONLY REASON that Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama are coming back to NC to campaign is in order to trick their base into getting excited - for the sake of their down ballot races... but not so much here in NC, but nationally. It’s the sort of thing that plays well to the dummies who read the Huffington Post.
Poll ping.
R up 4 in PA. This is going to b a big win. BIG win.
Hey u have day to day data. Where did u get this?
Cool more things to check
Obummer isn’t getting what he needs. Even his own have turned against him. NC is a Lib fantasy. It’s going RED.
