NEW YORK (WABC) -- Firefighters are battling a six-alarm fire in the Breezy Point section of the Rockaway peninsula in Queens. Officials say the fire was reported at about 11 p.m. Monday and involves about 50 houses situated in a flooded Zone A area. A fire department spokesman says nearly 200 firefighters are currently at the scene. He says two people have suffered minor injuries. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Watched the video - blurry screen.
Those folks do so much for Wounded Warriors — We need to do something for them - let us know if there’s a fund specifically to help them out.
Not in that part of town. It's home to many firefighters and police officers and Representative Bob Turner (R) who pulled off the upset and took Weiner's seat. It votes Republican.
It sounds like some kind of nuclear war, end of the world sci-fi movie.
Must feel like it, too.
I live over 1100 miles from where it made landfall, and we’re feeling the effects of it today. Wind gusts 45-50 mph.
Good Question. It depends on what caused the damage first. For example, if the flood had already destroyed the house, then it doesn’t matter what else happened. If the the house wasn’t destroyed by the flood and fire ensued, then fire is the cause of loss. You can also say the wind caused the power lines to arc or blow over and that caused the fire. Wind is a covered loss in most areas. This was an issue in Katrina and also in the last two big Earthquakes in California when the argument was over if wind caused the damage in Katrina before flooding, or if the fires caused the damage in California instead of the earthquake. The Earthquake caused gas mains to rupture, but the fire caused the loss, so in many cases, Homeowners policies protected the owners. You can bet the Insurance companies will argue the homes were already effectively destroyed by the flood first.
Do not need to look at doctored video footage. 30 years in LE experience has taught me to recognize a arson scam easily. Too bad, you get duped so easily and those states will just vote for soetoro anyway.
No hatred, just reality. Sorry you cannot handle the truth.:)
If you say So?????????????????????????????????????
Hey Brother, you cannot educate those, who prefer to remain ignorant and colluding to collect insurance money. I have to laugh at some of the mindless troll supporters here on the FB. These folks read their insurance policies and decided to contact “Quido” for some for some preservation insurance called A-R-S-O-N in my opinion.
I cannot, you are standing in the doorway princess. Just make sure you pull that lever for soetoro. Do what you have been taught in the commune as best. :)
Gotta get the insurance money, by any means necessary. I guess the peeps in those states affected, have never heard of disaster preparedness 101? I do not like to see any people suffer, but sometimes you bring it on yourself. Preparation is the key to survive any potential disaster.I thought by now some of the poeple, unlike the 47%(s) would learn the government cannot do all things for you in life. In closing, one can only remember Katrina where the 47(s) remained in public housing when told to evacuate. Ignorance is bliss to liberal fools who, are dependent on those of us who work for a living.
Unfortunately Albion, this is America, and unless I woke up in Russia today I will have me say in this matter. You have your facts wrong, new york, new jersey and california will always go democrat. The reason is all those little perks the elected officials promise, but fail to deliver. It is like being a heroin addict, one taste does it all. For it is a shame and history has been forgotten by many in those states. Rugged self individualism will get you through most anything in life. We down here in the South are frequently graced with hurricanes far superior than a Cat 1 and or severe storm weather. We all pull ourselves up by our own boot-straps, with the exception of the government womb to tomb 47 %(s). Life is not fair, “Right Jimah????”
Good to see sane Americans in that area. Thank you for the info. I served with some great soldiers from NY in my military career.
Cheap materials in building and union contractors often produce poor construction &durablity when severe weather occurs.
Only an bigoted, ignorant, red-neck would presume that if someone lived in NY they were by default liberal, and deserved what they got. Sadly I’ve seen too much of that mentality on FR lately from DU trolls.
They must be really cheering you on.
I live in CNY and am still not sure we’re going to see ANYTHING of note from the storm.
It’s mostly been overcast but we did have a beautiful, clear, moonlit night night before last and the sun has actually peeped out a couple times.
We’ve had some rain and some wind gusts but absolutely NOTHING out of the ordinary for NYS fall weather. It’s been very typical for this time of year and if it weren’t for the media, I’d have no idea that anything significant happened.
Go figure.
Thanks .. the photo(s) are amazing.
Yeah, some very special people live in the Rockaways. The Graybeards have a donation page for anyone who wishes to help out with expenses related to the Wounded Warrior Project: http://www.graybeards.com
Do you really think the video footage in post 43 is doctored?
As posts 56 and 62 pointed out, that area votes Republican. Leave the broad generalizations about the Jersey shore to those who live or vacation there. The devastation in that town is a tragedy, no matter what kind of American citizens lived there. Have a little respect.
