I was wrong about this storm. I’ll admit it.
I am concerned for the damage all along the seaboard.
Imagine all those rats and critters trying to find higher ground in those major TV network buildings in New York ? fitting ? isn’t it ?
Seems like they should had had more on hand. Power couldn’t have been out for more than 12 hours.
Hi Cowboy,
We saw convoys of power trucks going through WV today. We’re not having any problems here in Pt Pleasant, WV. Heard a lot about Pt Pleasant, NJ today on FOX.
I can imagine there are a bunch of people over there that are praying for daylight. When daylight finally comes, what will we see? A mess the likes of which I don’t think we’ll have ever seen before.
Noted - thanks.
Those electrical systems were 'shovel ready', were they not? I mean, much of New York's infrastructure is nearly a century old.
Libs are just so darn smart. They did know that, didn't they???
They retracted that info about 3 foot deep water on the trading floor.
If the power is out, where are they going to get the fuel from? Modern gas pumps need electricity. This is going to be a bigger disaster due to incompetence.
Then you're part of our 'Greatest Generation'. Thank you for holding the fort til reinforcements arrived.
Welcome to the Sunshine state! Hubby and I were ready to FREEP Obama in Orlndo this morning, but we cancled since only Clinton was to appear.
A police car was lost rescuing 14 people from the popular resort Fire Island.
Fire Island had mandatory evacuation. I hope no lives were lost in this one.
“praying for daylight.”
I thought the same. It is one thing to try to deal with all of this (just now on scanner - building with basement flooding, electrical sparking - no help coming) in the daytime. In the dark it must become so surreal and 100x more difficult.
Maybe New York could pull the old lever-style voting booths out of storage?
Ok, I quit watching it anyway, better news here. I only watch it cause they show more weather guys on the ground than weather channel.
The local NY news did just say that there is some water at the Exchange...just not three feet as previously reported.
Yep...surge is tricky. My forecast was for 11' of water...+/-1'. Ended up 2' higher than my window....and what I said in post 170 was this:
"Winds TS...with gusts to hurricane force on the SW side.
"Surge to 11-12' max if it comes in on high tide.
"Massive power outages due to size of wind field and leaves on the trees making it easier to bring them down.
"Will hit with a WNW heading and a pressure around 945-950.
"Will cause 15-20 billion in damage."
Damage estimate was too low. This will be much more. I also said this:
"This storm is coming ashore somewhere along Jersey...possibly as far south as N DE coast...and as far north as NYC...but probably near ACY. This creates the worst possible funneling affect down Long Island Sound."
So...won't hang my head in shame on this forecast...
We do have the old lever-style...at least where I vote.
That’s better than the lights being on but nobody home. Take care rm. Use the stairs. Hope we all get through this OK.
