Been going door-to-door for Romney for the past three Saturdays in central Virginia.
A lot more Obama signs cropped up this week, even though we are in Falwell country. Yikes!
In one house there was a group of women inside who informed us they would not vote for Romney...one of them yelled, "women's rights!" After we left two of them got in their car and followed us for awhile, trying to intimidate us. Good thing my partner was carrying.
Another lady informed us she "loves Obama" because her main concern is the economy and he is her go-to man to make it all better. I guess you can't fix dumb.
Another lady told us that her main concern is women's rights and she will vote for Obama because she has many lesbian friends who cannot marry their "spouses" in Virginia.
Sigh.
Despite these folks, I encourage anyone who is able to get out to go and talk to your neighbors and to strangers about the election. WE SPOKE WITH SOME UNDECIDED VOTERS WHO WERE LEANING HEAVILY TOWARD ROMNEY BY THE TIME WE GOT THROUGH WITH THEM! We left them with a brochure that compares Romney to Obama in order to seal the deal in their minds.
Going door-to-door is a lot of fun despite the knuckleheads. I believe people are more responsive to this method because they are burned out on the phone calls and TV ads.
We can only overcome massive voter fraud with massive turnout. It's not too late to join us. We really need your help! You can pick up brochures at your local Republican headquarters.
Yes, I am conservatively encouraged. The only nagging doubt I have is voter fraud. Communists don’t relinquish power willingly.
Lynchburg City
Romney will easily take Lynchburg as well as Campbell, Appomattox, and Amherst Counties.
i did door2door every day this week ... Central CT for a conservative state rep candidate.
More interesting because the race will be decided by as few as 100 votes ... Romney will win VA by 100,000 and peeeples are more persuadabull with the local candidates.
There is no populist up-rising in CT. If anything, there is a down-rising. “things are so bad, no use trying to do anything”
We need to win by a big enough margin to overcome the fraud that the Democrats are going to rain down upon us.
I am targeting not only the undecideds, but also people who support Romney but figure they don’t have to go out in the rain to vote because he has a comfortable lead.
Must be some local Jihadists celebrating the Obama sponsored MURDER of four brave Americans in Libya.
You're right. I've done thousands of door-to-door visits, and have always felt much better received --in person-- than on the phone.
Thanks for your great work in a critical state. And thanks for being brave! I too have met a few knucklehead in my time, but they're vastly outnumbered by people who are pleased to see me when they open their doors, and happy to take our campaign literature.
Lived in Staunton fm 67 to 76. Went to Northside, Thomas Jefferson, John Lewis, Shelburne, R E Lee, and Buffalo Gap.
Are you working with campaign office? They will target for you. GOTV efforts go to great lengths to avoid talking to the other side near the end of an election. It is counter-productive.
Yes. What we are finding is that the list is incorrect. The reason is usually that the owner has rented the house to the people we are encountering.
We do not argue with Obama voters. We do have respectful conversations with undecideds and it has been anything but nonproductive. I have been very unimpressed with republican headquarters.
I live in Southwest Virginia and can say with confidence everyone I’ve talked to supports Romney. There are Romney signs everywhere and I won’t have to tell you how the coal miners feel.
Good work. Don’t let them get you down. Move on and save your mental energy.
and probably Nelson Co but Portsmouth, Norfolk, Richmond, Suffolk, Hampton Rds and areas of Northern Va are going to be tough
you get the game ball if George Allen gets swept in by a smidgeon.

You could walk all day and knock on 100 doors, make 100s of calls- talk yourself blue in the face, and still not get across as much information or reach as many uneducated as you can by referring The Obama File on forum/blogs.
If we all just spent 30 minutes or an hour a day doing this, think how many we could reach!!

Leave that kind alone ~ first of all you can't trust them when they get to the voting site, and secondly, there are all those other Democrat candidates on the ballot who they might well like.
Waynesboro from ‘70 to ‘81. Waynesboro HS. I traveled to London in ‘06 and while there ran into someone who went to Buffalo Gap. Small world.
LOL I know you are doing the right thing by trying to get the vote out, but something made me laugh about two women attacking you and your partner having to put them down.
Did you fail to mention that the “ladies” who raved over Obunga, and who followed you and attempted to intimidate you, were sporting deep dark “suntans”.....even in late October? Obviously part of the 47%.
