Been going door-to-door for Romney for the past three Saturdays in central Virginia.
A lot more Obama signs cropped up this week, even though we are in Falwell country. Yikes!
In one house there was a group of women inside who informed us they would not vote for Romney...one of them yelled, "women's rights!" After we left two of them got in their car and followed us for awhile, trying to intimidate us. Good thing my partner was carrying.
Another lady informed us she "loves Obama" because her main concern is the economy and he is her go-to man to make it all better. I guess you can't fix dumb.
Another lady told us that her main concern is women's rights and she will vote for Obama because she has many lesbian friends who cannot marry their "spouses" in Virginia.
Sigh.
Despite these folks, I encourage anyone who is able to get out to go and talk to your neighbors and to strangers about the election. WE SPOKE WITH SOME UNDECIDED VOTERS WHO WERE LEANING HEAVILY TOWARD ROMNEY BY THE TIME WE GOT THROUGH WITH THEM! We left them with a brochure that compares Romney to Obama in order to seal the deal in their minds.
Going door-to-door is a lot of fun despite the knuckleheads. I believe people are more responsive to this method because they are burned out on the phone calls and TV ads.
We can only overcome massive voter fraud with massive turnout. It's not too late to join us. We really need your help! You can pick up brochures at your local Republican headquarters.
Stupid morons (the Obamatrons).
I’m in central VA, too. Honestly, in my rural area it is wall-to-wall Romney/Ryan signs. They’re everywhere. Yesterday I had to go to the shoe repair shop, which is located in town in an inner city area. When I got there, I saw about half a dozen Obama signs in, I assume, blacks’ front yards. And at the end of one street, there was a single Romney sign, LOL.
Thank you for walking. I hope to make it out next election. This year it was not possible. But I precinct walked for years, in California, just trying to do some plowing for future generations.
Ha, I just remembered, I live in Virginia for a short while, and precinct walked for Dole!
So Lynchburg/Appomattix/Campbell County, huh? I just love reading these reports because I graduated from Liberty in ‘06.
VA Ping!
If you want on/off the VA Ping List, please freepmail me.
If you see posts of interest to Virginians, please ping me.
Thanks!
I vividly remember some of my experieinces going door to door for Goldwater in Texas before that POS got elected, and did his best to destroy our Country with his All the way with LBJ.
The so called Great Society.
Keep up the great work. Been in your shoes in Prince Edward Co., VA and it was a tough area to win for George Allen. He was running for governor. Also went door to door for Ollie North and guess what? he did carry Prince Edward Co. I was precinct chair for Leigh district and gave out flyers at the polls..swayed a few voters before they cast their ballots. Always said that grassroots campaigns win elections. KUDOS to YOU:)
It sounds like you are in a conservative area....with lots of Obama support? Is that right? Sounds concerning if so.
Yeah, the Romney signs still outnumber the Bamster’s signs but I noticed a lot more for Bammy today.
Yep. We did Lynchburg today.
The phone calls give me a headache. Door to door is uplifting. Some people are going to be challenging. But that is ok. If you make yourself an expert on voting, you can be a big help to other RR supporters who are just (as Rove says) episodic voters. Some folks even think you can vote online...even on our side.
Thank you so much for doing this work. I really appreciate it.
I didn’t realize how much fun it would be. Especially when you meet someone who agrees with you. I thought it would be kind of a dull grind but it’s not. Trying to encourage other people like me who may be afraid to dive in.
Yeah, this is a conservative area but there are plenty of liberals here who hate Liberty University and Jerry Falwell. I don’t think Romney will lose here, though.
Went through several neighborhoods today in Williamsburg.. there`s been an upsurge in 0bama signs. I think Romney will win this state, but it`ll be a nail-biter.
The red part of the state is going to get more help this time from my purple and blue part of the state. The energy here has NEVER been so pro-republican since 1992 when I got involved [first time AMAZING *giggle*] to try and defeat Bill Clinton. Romney signs and stickers are EVERYwhere in the purple neighborhoods and way up in blue neighborhoods. Very few BO signs. Their office just opened last week.
The soccer moms are going GOP unlike last time along with their Office-Park-Dad husbands. We are way more organized and much more adept using social media. Be encouraged!
Yeah, some people love talking to us....I think they’re political junkies, too.
There are many registered voters who can’t stand Obama but won’t get off their hind ends to vote. We need to light a fire under them.
I think Virginians want Romney but the voter fraud is what worries me.
What County are you in? Albemarle? I can promise you my home county (Augusta) will go at least 75% for Romney.
Thank you for your effort.
Perhaps you need to say this to Obots.
“Obama and the Democrats have turned their backs on God and the Bible.”
Obama and the Democrats support
Abortions, Same Sex Marriages, Homosexuals and Contraception,
Are “WE” here to please GOD or to please Obama and the Democrats?”
The “Choice” is yours to make!
