Just 50 years after ending its notorious segregation policy, Ole Miss finally has a black homecoming queen. The school just crowned Courtney Roxanne Pearson as their queen, with the student receiving the crowning during the halftime ceremonies of the Ole Miss-Auburn football game.
I am still in shock, but I am definitely very excited, said Pearson.

She must have a great personality! And so maybe she does. As a former fat girl, I find it sort of refreshing. Who is to say that bulimic or anorexic blonde girls with big boobs and vacant heads get to have all the fun.

My alma mater (Wisconsin State College, River Falls; now part of the UW system) in lily-white northern Wisconsin (we were just beginning then to get students from St. Paul/Minneapolis, only 30 miles away) elected its first black homecoming queen 50 years ago (class of '63).

Bad choice of homecoming dress. When her arms and shoulders are covered, she is very presentable.

20,000 students, more or less, and fewer than 3,000 voted.
Best wishes to Ms. Pearson. I hope she has a nice time being Homecoming Queen.

I was raised just 25 miles from Ole Miss, back in the 60’s. I remember the long lines of National Guard (’Army men’ to an 8 year old) vehicles headed down the road to Oxford, to protect James Meredith.......

I’ll bet every time she turned around in the classroom she erased the blackboard.

Who is to say that bulimic or anorexic blonde girls with big boobs and vacant heads get to have all the fun. Well, they don't. I'm partial to redheads myself. And I LIKE A LITTLE MEAT ON THE BONES.....................

Quality, make room for quantity.
They wanted the maximum return on investment, measured in poundage.

I prefer thin women. Not my type of women, especially when I was in college. I believe weight like that exhibits a lack of self control.

You haven’t made any incredibly rude comments about her either.

And I LIKE A LITTLE MEAT ON THE BONES.....................Then this choice of homecoming queen should be quite to your satisfaction...lol

Here's the defeated runner-up, Ashleigh Davis.
I think the AA student body just wanted to give the finger to Ole Miss.

The pic didn’t come up.
Your theory is likely true. It reminds me of an episode in “Steve Canyon” where his niece Poteet is a coed at Maumee University and the big woman on campus is defeated for homecoming queen by an unknown named Latte LaVaca. On prom night the winner turns out to be a cow, part of a huge practical joke. The name Latte LaVaca means “milk the cow”.
But as they say, “truth is always stranger than fiction”.

Shame on you posters for the nasty comments about this young woman. You are the reason that conservatives have a bad reputation. You are focused on nothing but trivial and superficial. You have NO idea who this young woman really is. She was elected Homecoming Queen for the same reasons Barack Obama was elected President.

Amen, DJ! Of course, I simply looked at her, but my first thought was to smile back at a beautiful young lady who has SUCH a kind, genuine smile.
There’s more to life than size 2, thank heavens.

Definitely like her in her regular clothes (left pic) better. She looks about as uncomfortable in the gown as just about every other young lady does. Pretty young woman.
