The assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi last month appears to have been an opportunistic attack rather than a long-planned operation, and intelligence agencies have found no evidence that it was ordered by Al Qaeda, according to U.S. officials and witnesses interviewed in Libya.

It appears we are playing legal weasel word games. It was Terrorism, but evidently they decided it was not al Qaeda but an affiliate.
Probably because this is one of the groups of “rebels” we’re funding and arming (many of which are known to be or suspected of being affiliated with AQ) and they’re afraid that proclaiming their pride in their handiwork might be a little much even for the US to accept.
But maybe not. Heck, what’s another bump in the road?

I guess they think they can spread this lie because the Ambassador who warned, time and again, that security was falling way behind due to the build up of Al Queda forces, and mentioned the Al Queda flags flying from buildings, is dead and can’t rebut. Sometimes dead people can be so beneficial to the Left - voting from beyond the grave isn’t their only role.
AQ=Hezbollah=Palestinian Authority=Hamas=Muslim Brotherhood, etc.
They’re all the same - same goals, same danger.
This doesn’t fit with every thing else I am reading.
Except for all those subsequent reports by the State Department and the CIA that are being reported elsewhere. You can only hide this crap from the uninformed and dependent voters for so long. We are quickly approaching an LBJ, “I’ve lost the country” moment. Only the government media is too stupid to catch on.
“Opportunistic attack” may actually be worse. They obviously had the capability to attack. It’s a good thing if it takes them a long time to plan an attack. It’s easier to discover and break-up those kind of attacks. If they can take advantage of an opportunity, then they’re better trained and better disciplined. This wasn’t a meeting of the Benghazi Sewing Club that got out of hand. And the fact that they swung around and immediately attacked the second site is disturbing. This was a unit of fighters. No disorganized rabble can turn around and attack another objective that quick.
Why is the LA Times covering for the Democrats?
Did all the German people hate the Jews in the 1930s and 40s? I don’t think so. The German people went along with the Nazis because the Nazis told them they were going to give them a socialist utopia. If some Jews were abused and killed along the way, well, that was OK because the Nazis were answering to a higher calling. Where did I hear that phrase “higher calling” recently? Oh, yeah, it was used to describe Obama’s motives. He’s answering to the higher calling of developing a socialist utopia here in the United States. And that’s where our media is. They know the Democrats lie and steal and have policies that kill thousands of innocent people, but that’s OK because they’re answering to a “higher calling”. It’s the higher calling of the death camp. It’s the higher calling of the gulag. It’s the higher calling of The Killing Fields. Our media doesn’t go after the Democrats because they’re too busy marching happily to hell.
And by coincidence the attack occurred on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the WTC. Forget all of the attacks against foreign interests in Benghazi (including two against the consulate and an assassination attempt against the British Amb thar resulted in the closure of the British mission in Benghazi) that preceeded this attack or that Amb Stevens wrote of seeing AQ flags atop various buildings in the city.

The recently revealed cables and known attacks on ours and others embassies
show the opportunity was already being taken advantage of.
Couple that with AQ flags being flown, and it wouldn’t be hard to discern that
terrorists were on the rise.
In the end all of this spinning/parsing don’t change the fact that we had Americans killed, and this contradicts the Bin Laden/Al Queda theme of
Obama/Biden.
To me it doesn’t matter who the group was , they accomplished their objective
of killing and laying a marker down that the US was vulnerable regardless of
motivations.

I guess those happy go lucky work place violent lads just happened to have all those Al Qaeda Flags with them and flew them above our consulate after murdering the Americans. They also just happened to find RPGs laying in the street and a few heavy machine guns. As luck would have it, they were laying in the street, in front of our consulate and oddly enough were all loaded and pointed at the consulate.
The Los Angeles Times is a despicable excuse for journalism.
A peaceful group of Libyans, while surfing the web ran across the video. They went down to the consulate for a candlelight vigil. A candle was dropped and a fire ensued. Several of the participants having their conceal carry RPGs and 50 cal machine guns tried to alert the fire department by firing into the air. Accidents happen. Nothing to see here. Move along.
