The FReeper Canteen sends our best wishes....
Congratulations on your Nuptials Old Sarge & Bride of Old Sarge!
|
Your carriage awaits....
|
The banquet hall is prepared & let the feasting begin!
|
Word is that Ma baked this cake for you herself....
|
May thy life be long and happy,
Thy cares and sorrows few;
And the many friends around thee
Prove faithful, fond and true.
May your voyage through life be as happy and as free
As the dancing waves on the deep blue sea

Yes, the recoil pad took some of the kick out of the recoil.
I have some other nostalgic firearms, including a Mannlicher-Carcano with a folding bayonet and an Arisaka that still has its chrysanthemum--those were mostly knocked off the rifles when they fell into American hands following WWII.

I wonder if Rachmaninov ever saw the movie “Alexander Nevskii,” with its score by Sergei Prokofiev, and if so, I wonder what he thought of it.

Hey, Meeky.
(HUGS)
It cooled down in Georgia, so I can open my windows again.
I'm wrapping up Rachmaninov tonight. I have a lot of material where he plays the piano. Check out the Paganini Rhapsody. Modern sound quality for a 1934 recording, no less.

The real scandal in the letter was that everybody knew it was true.
Now we just have an alcoholic mayor who drove into some bushes at Sonic!

Did the movie play in America in 1938? If it did, I can imagine he saw it.

You're looking for songs for a wedding celebration? I almost used
The Wedding of the Painted Doll (1929) for my brother's wedding video. My brother and sister-in-law would have liked it, but my mother suggested Jo Stafford's
No Other Love (1950), and this proved an excellent choice.
