Yes, windmills are so wonderful. That's why no one actually running them to generate power will release any figures on the amount of power generated or the money they have lost.

My neighbor just covered the south side of his roof with solar panels. That required he cut-down all the trees on the south side of his house, at his expense. The panels are already covered with wet dead leaves from the trees on the north, east, and west sides of his house. He has no way to get up on the roof unless he uses a 35-foot ladder. The pitch of his roof is approximately 40 degrees. I think I hear an ambulance...

Also, I will get laughed at, but when you think about it, these wind turbines disrupt wind flow upon the surface of the earth and in large numbers could possibly affect climate in some areas. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Prove me wrong!

The European experience is that windpower is not a viable answer. They complicate grid balance tremendously and still require fired up conventional plants on call to provide stability in the flow of energy. On one occasion in Germany when the wind generation failed, an aluminum factory suffered expensive damage from the extremely short gap in the power supply. Germans are now going with gas and coal in their new power generation.

Besides which, wind is bankrupting euro governments because of subsidies. Montana should stick with gas and oil. The wind party is just about ready to turn out the lights.

This is a crony captialism story, because Texas has been doing wind farms so fast since 2000 taht they now create 105 of our electricity. The Wolfe ridge in Denton is using GE fans for one example and siemens is a monster TX employer that builds wind all over the world.

here is State of Tx reprot for last year - In April 2010, wind produced 12.1 percent of the state’s electricity, using more than 2,000 West Texas wind turbines to reach that volume. (BTW Texans passed a service fee of $1.00 per month to pay for transmission lines.)

These wind turbines pay landowners and municiple property holders very large fees. It has changed the way that school districts have managed constrution of schools in places like Abilene and othe W. Tx small towns. Maybe that is why we have 800,000 jobs created in past foru years. People are staying in their home towns - building things.

Wind power replaces natural gas and coal in which we are already energy independent. So, particularly if we are buying Chinese turbines, its hard to get too excited about it.

Wind and solar don’t do anything to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
