COLLEGE STATION - A bomb threat has led to an evacuation at Texas A&M University in College Station.
The university asked students to evacuate "by foot immediately" at around 11:34 a.m. A witness at the scene said students were calmly and slowly evacuating the area.
The evacuation comes a day after Texas State University was evacuated after receiving a similar threat. Three buildings on the campus in San Marcos were evacuated around 9:40, but students were later around to return in the early afternoon.
More details to come.
Once the armchair terrorist is caught, there needs to be another Aggie bonfire with the terrorist on top!
It seems that more and more of them are occurring when it's not final exam season.
I am not privy to the actual words in the threat so will not speculate whether or not the evacuation was "proper".
Mid-terms were last week.
The students were told to walk off campus as quickly as possible and get as far away as possible.
They probably don’t want the to get their cars because they would be stipuck in traffic on campus if everyone did that.
My son is a freshman there.
Terrorists don’t give warnings. Whatever this is it’s not a terrorist incident unless they are just probing
Plus, because of the nonspecific nature of the phoned-in threat, they can't legally ignore the possibility of a car bomb.
I work for A&M, but my office is about four blocks off campus, so I don't get the rest of the day off. Sigh.
Yesterday, there was a bomb threat at UMass Boston.
Our granddaughter called and told us that they said a man was on campus claiming to have a bomb. She was able to get off campus in her pickup, and is now picking up friends who were not able to get to their vehicles and taking them to their homes. Traffic was already heavy as LSU fans and TAMU fans are coming in for the game tomorrow. Prayers, please, for everyone’s safety and that they will catch this loonie.
So far my son is just taking it calmly. He’s happy a class with a quiz got cancelled.
We’re in California, so I’m probably more nervous than him.
That's likely to get him on the suspect list. :-)
Thanks for posting the Code Maroon link.
It wasn’t OWS, that was Jim Quinn or someone else speculating.
I agree with you; call them on their bluff. Anyone who possesses a real bomb never announces it before detonating it. That only happens in movies.
Seriously, can anyone recall even one incident where a bomb threat ended up being related to an actual bomb? I certainly can’t.
Name of U of Pitt suspect is Adam Busby http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Busby
I think he is high on the list because he’s from California!
My best friend’s son is there. I sent her an emergency email.
Most likely some loser jihadist wannabe punk ass over here on a student visa.
wolf crying?
Maybe trying to get people to stop believing the threats until a real one happens?
