Yep, it is called 2 deep leadership. Background checks have also been put into place. In my son’s troop as with all troops, there must be two men present at all times with Scouts (unless it is the dad’s son). The Boy Scouts have also instituted Youth Protection. It helps Assistant Scoutmasters recognize signs of abuse. However, as with most situations, it is impossible to insure that no problems will occur in a given situation. If a pervert is determined to become an adult leader in Boy Scouts, he will find a way. Sort of like seat belts in a car. Car manufacturers can install seat belts. But if a person is determined to drive without one, he will.

Yes. Every adult leader or parent that accompanies kids on outings is required to annually qualify for youth protection. That includes detailed descriptions of the “two deep policy.”
I like the policy. It means I’m protected against crazy accusations because there is always another adult witness. It makes merit badge counseling harder because you need another adult there.
From what I know about the scouts (my son is working on his Eagle Scout) they make sure that no scout is alone with a single adult. They must have two or more leaders with scouts or individuals.
I suspect it is to keep the chance for sexual molestation limited.
I read the tripe from the “boy scouts get what they deserve” idiot too. I wonder if he is a gay who was trying to become a leader. I work with an old queen that says pretty much the same. He hates the BSA because of their stance on letting gays be leaders.
